Clinton was eager to save the "poor Bosnia Muslims" from the Serbs, who should have been given a medal for working on eradicating the Islamicists.

Al Qaeda bogeyman at work as US rethinks Balkans
By Douglas Hamilton
SARAJEVO, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Serb and Croat nationalists are warning Washington that Bosnia's Muslims will let Al Qaeda infest the soft underbelly of Europe, unless they are called in to guarantee security should the U.S. military quit the Balkans.
Western diplomats in the region discount the threat. They believe the nationalists' real goal, as ever, is to isolate the Muslims and split Bosnia on ethnic lines, while winning kudos as America's staunch ally in some "clash of civilisations".
But they worry that scare-mongering may sway Congress.
An October article in the Washington Times says Bosnia "now serves as a base" for Al Qaeda. Croats are the best U.S. ally on the "front-lines in the war against Islamic terrorism in the Balkans" and can be its "eyes and ears", the Times says.

This is a very bad time to be associated with Bin Laden.First humiliation, followed by denial, then fear, accompanied by respect, then resignation, followed by realignment of allegiances, then capitulation, followed by peace.

But the article has some disturbing revelations.
U.S. supported al-Qaeda cells during Balkan Wars
Fought serbian troops
Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda terrorist network has been active in the Balkans for years, most recently helping Kosovo rebels battle for independence from Serbia with the financial and military backing of the United States and NATO.
The claim that al-Qaeda played a role in the Balkan wars of the 1990s came from an alleged FBI document former Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic presented in his defence before the Hague tribunal last week. Mr. Milosevic faces 66 counts of war crimes and genocide.
Although Hague prosecutors have challenged the veracity of the document, which Mr. Milosevic identified as a Congressional statement from the FBI dated last December, Balkan experts say the presence of al-Qaeda militants in Kosovo and Bosnia is well documented.

Kusa has named 500 al-Qaeda terrorists in Britain and the information he gave is being checked<<< I hope that "checked" implies a more proactive response that the word generally means!
Knock, knock...Yes, Good afternoon Sir. I'm Sargent Teeves from Scotland Yard. Libya's intelligence chief has indicated you may have ties to al Qaeda and international terrorism. I just thought I'd drop by and check to see if your indeed one of those types of people."

Well, this is what would happen if the French were doing the checking, but fortunately they are not.
(As you know, we are still looking for the terrorists the French warned and let loose after questioning, who were trying to hijack teh Air France planes)

they they have just realized that their
plane has crashed and there is no easy way
off the planet:
[The drop-ship crashes]
Hudson: Well that's great, that's just f* great man, now what the f* are we supposed to do? We're in some real pretty s* now man... That's it man, game over man, game over, man! Game over! What the f* are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?

It does sound like something big is in play, and he wants to insulate his nation and his life. I was first happy about the announcement he was giving up WMD, now I feel concerned and worry if we have been duped. I say, if an attack comes and it traces back to Lyba, then all bets should be off and we nuke the SOB.
To: FairOpinion
This is not correct. The salafists/wahhabis have been after Qaddafi for many years, he has been working with us since 2001 at halfspeed and at 100 % since this summer. The only way for his family (read: his son) to stay in charge is to ask for help from the West. He has not given AQ any WMD, that is BS.

Great. The apes have bioweapons. I wonder when this is going to hit the mainstream news......

"I don't believe a word of this article. If AQ had WMDs of any kind it would have used them already."
You make a good point but here are my thoughts, jumbled as they are.
Their bomb makers error at times to error on bypassing all the safeties on a nuke would be, well in a word, unfortunate and would certainly bring a modest amount of attention on the group jacking around with a tactical nuke. When I worked for the Navy, albeit some years ago, we gamed this many times. The user manuals were always suspect. That being said I do not think it is a lack of motivation or daring do - I think they lack confidence when they feel confident we are certainly in deep sneekers.

It is possible, given your assessment that he's been leaning toward us since 2001, that Libya may have given OBL some bogus WMD. Once OBL discovered he'd been screwed, Qaddafi new the time was right to come out of the closet so to speak. That would also explain why there has not been a WMD attack - they might have tried to set something off and it didn't work and no one noticed.

Libya was closer than Syria, Iran and Iraq to producing a nuclear bomb
This isnt what ive been hearing. Also the title seemes a bit misleading, nowhere in the article does it even mention Libya giving terrorist weapons of any kind. I think this is bunk.

I don't believe a word of this article. If AQ had WMDs of any kind it would have used them already. That would depend on when they came to possesion of such weapons. I would agree with you if they supposedly had been given them a long time ago. But, if they have been given the weapons recently, say during the build up to the Iraq war, it would be very difficult to move them around and get them into place.
Gadhafi's latest move is one that raises many questions, not to mention our government raising the alert level to orange.

"Libya was closer than Syria, Iran and Iraq to producing a nuclear bomb"
===
From article in Sept. 2002 (!):
Libya leads Arab race for nuclear bomb - Sharon
By Ross Dunn, Herald Correspondent in Jerusalem
September 6 2002
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/09/05/1031115913304.html Libya will become the first Arab country to develop weapons of mass destruction, Israel's Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, has claimed.
He said he believes that, with Iraqi help, Libya is developing nuclear weapons and long-range missiles that pose a threat to Israel.
"Iraqi experts are running the show in Libya," he said on Israeli television. "There might be Saudi money involved and there is definitely an involvement of North Korea."
He amplified his remarks in other interviews.
"Libya is working hard on developing an atom bomb and is apparently the Arab country furthest along in this," Mr Sharon told the Hebrew daily newspaper Ma'ariv.

while Gadhafi deserves to get slapped about, this is a much better way to fight the war on terror: American lives are spared; we get intelligence to fight others; other creeps like Gadhafi might decide to capitulate; and now al-qaida have other enemies to exact rvenge upon, diluting themselves in the process ... keep it up W!

Excellent points. You are exactly right.
Qaddafi was smart enough to realize "the jig was up" and Bush was smart to handle it the way he did, for all the reasons you mentioned.
To: FairOpinion
Well I hate to say I told you so, but... Libya's deal with the UK and US was to cover their own arses. Called this one last Sunday.
