- The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights reserved.
- Personal firearms: The original point and click interface.
- An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
- A gun in the hand is better than a dispatcher on the phone.
- Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
- If guns are outlawed, can we use crossbows? ...how about swords, clubs or icepics?
- If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
- Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
- If you don't know your rights you don't have any.
- If government cannot trust its citizens with firearms, government cannot be trusted.
- Those who trade liberty for security end up losing both.
- What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
- The Second Amendment is in place in case they ignore all of the others.
- Approximately 79,999,977 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
- Guns only have two enemies: rust and totalitarians.
- Know guns...know peace, know safety.
- No guns...no peace, no safety.
- You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
- Assault is a behavior, not a device.
- Criminals love gun control -- it makes their jobs safer.
- If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
- Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to disarm them.
- You only have the rights you are willing to fight and die for.
- The American Revolution would never have happened if gun control were in place.
- If the founding fathers of America were alive today, in all likelihood they would have already rebelled against curretn gun control laws.

I received an email with a message similar to this today and, after contemplating it, significantly modified it and posted it here on FR.
I believe that every now and then we need a refresher thread to help stimulate and sharpern our feelings and knowledge regarding the 2nd amendment, to punctuate to us how critical that amendment is, and to help us always remeber why it is in place.

1. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights reserved. Yeah, and we all know how much weight that carries today. Even the SCOTUS justices (some of them, at least) have all but admitted to ignoring the parts they don't like.

26. Know Guns, No Criminals. No Guns, Know Criminals.
Yes, it's similar to #s 16 & 17 but it's shorter and fits better on a bumper sticker. :)
Hope you and your's had a nice holiday season, Jeff. All was well in The Confetti household.

Because less than twenty years ago I was the target of a terrorist group...I know the sense of helplessness that people feel. I know the urge to arm yourself because that's what I did. Thank you, we did have a nice holiday. Brother's condition improved somewhat. (Still very serious though). Glad to hear things are well with you and yours my friend.

I like it, but I'd word it like this..."God and the 2nd Amendment makes all of the others possible".
Without Him and His guidance and immutable moral standard...even the 2nd amendment could not save us.

I had not seen most of these before...thanks Jeff. Terrific.

Both of those are great!
We could easily have hundreds of short succint statements like these to drive the point home to our friends, neighbors, relatives and fellow citizens without all of the legaleze and flowery wordsmithing that some folks feel is sometimes necessary.
To: Pharmboy
You are very welcome. Put them in an email and send them out to your entire list, asking them to do the same.
Write them in a letter and send them to your congressional representatives...house and senate and to your state reps too!
To: sciencediet
Great pic!

Ype, it's a shame...and yet another reason for the 2nd. Agreed. Still, even "assault weapons" are no match for the stuff the jack-booted thugs have at their disposal.

Added them to my profile page. I wonder if you could use "guns kill" as a defense at a murder trial.
Defendant: "Your honor, I plead not guilty due to I didn't kill the victim. The gun did."
Judge: "Excuse me?"
Defendant: "Well, you know the saying that guns kill."

Andrew Ford (UseNet): "Without either the first or second amendment, we would have no liberty; the first allows us to find out what's happening, the second allows us to do something about it! The second will be taken away first, followed by the first and then the rest of our freedoms."
Bill McIntire, Spokesman for the National Rifle Association, on Norfolk, Va. council's vote to cancel four gun shows, 1992: "Banning gun shows to reduce violent crime will work about as well as banning auto shows to reduce drunken driving."
"Guns cause crime, like flies cause garbage." --Author unknown.
California citizen attempting to purchase a firearm for self-defense during rioting in Los Angeles, week of 30 April 1992: "What do you mean 'wait fifteen days'? This is America!"
Edmund Burke, 1784: "The people never give up their liberty but under some delusion." [Contrast the above with U.S. Senator Joseph Biden's statement: "Banning guns is an idea whose time has come" as reported on 18 November, 1993, by the Associated Press.]
Edward Abbey: "The tank, the B-52, the fighter-bomber, the state controlled police and the military are the weapons of dictatorship. The rifle is the weapon of democracy... If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government - and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws."
George Washington: "The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference -- they deserve a place of honor with all that's good ..."
H.L. Mencken: "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."
James Earl Jones: "The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will loose."
John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of the Government of the USA, 471 (1787-88): "Arms in the hands of citizens [may] be used at individual discretion... in private self-defense..." [Contrast the above with Attorney General Janet Reno's statement: "Gun registration is not enough. I've always proposed state licensing... with some federal standards." as reported by the Associated Press and by ABC on 10 December, 1993.]
Leroy Pyle on Assault Rifles: "You didn't hear Elliot Ness whining about Al Capone's machine gun."
Dem Sen. Howard Metzenbaum (sponsor) during the floor debate of the Brady Bill, 1993 "I don't care about crime, I just want to get the guns." "No, we're not looking at how to control criminals ... we're talking about banning the AK-47 and semi-automatic guns." "I'm not interested in getting a bill that deals with airport security... all I want to do is get at plastic guns."
Tom Anderson: "I wonder why some of the so-called guardians of freedom are so anxious to register guns and so reluctant to register Communists."
"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans..." - President Clinton (USA TODAY, 11 March 1993, page 2A)
Don't think of it as `gun control', think of it as `victim disarmament'. If we make enough laws, we can all be criminals.
"It appears that the murder rate inside prisons is ten times higher than that outside prisons. It must be due to all those Kalashnikov rifles that are issued to prisoners upon their incarceration." --Jeff Cooper in Guns & Ammo magazine, August, 1989.
"...and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." --Luke 22:36
To: biblewonk
And quite a few women.? Don't blame them. If women are afraid -- and turn to government for security -- it's the fault of those pathetic men.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
