DENVER - Twenty-three congressmen warned President Bush in a letter yesterday that he risks an election-year backlash from Republican voters if he continues to press his guest-worker proposal.

The Republican lawmakers said their congressional offices have received a flood of angry letters, e-mails and phone calls from Republican constituents vowing that they will refuse to vote for the president if his program is approved.

I thought it was signing CFR.

Is he pretending that the Supreme Court will overturn his amnesty "guest worker" plan?

Selling out the US to Mexico & selling sacrificing the Christians in China on the alter of trade are things that I am not sure I can forgive Bush for.

Not to mention his almost complete lack of progress on the antiabortion front. Speeches and little changes to the law do not save the thousands of kids that are being murdered.

Find one "issues" poll taken that places this issue anywhere in the top 5 issues voters are thinking about when it comes to electing the next president.

What was I thinking Tex! Your right, this epic, coast to coast invasion of millions is no biggy with the American people. It's a non issue!

Were really more concerned with Michael Jackson!

If I hire someone, and they don't do the job they were hired for they get fired. Why should the President be any different?

"White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said yesterday that she hadn't yet seen the letter, but stressed the importance of the president's proposal in controlling illegal immigration.

"The president's temporary-worker program is a well thought-out aimed at improving border security, meeting our economic needs and being compassionate to those trying to improve their situation for themselves and their families,"

There was not one word mentioned about securing the borders, and we do not call registering lawbreakers, and changing the laws to make them legal, a legitimate way to control illegal immigration.

This, "well thought out plan" had nothing to do with border security, had no means to track these individuals, and the billions spent on the useless agencies that would be created to not fulfill their function would be better spent on enforcement.

Our first duty to compassion should be to ourselves, our culture, our national identity, our sovereignty. It will not be set aside for some self serving politicians false call to duty to improve the situtation of those that would destroy the nation by their mere presence at the ballot box and the sheer numbers of their illegal invasion.

This behaviour is driven by pure political expediency.

OK you tell me. A moderate republican, Bush, eeked out a 523 vote win in Florida over the most socialist democrat of our time. This country is split right down the middle politically and every top issue the voters say is important is big government spending and involvement. What red meat conservative is there that is going to win in that environment?

I can read the papers and the government crime stats.

But what about all of the benefits from importing more crime and poverty?

Just think of the upcoming construction boom in subsidized housing!

Keeping control of the House and Senate and showing the GOP that they should do what is right and not what is political expedient.

I am off to bed. I will respond to any responses in 12 hours.

Ever hear of grid lock?

At least then you have a check and balance system, democrats won't give in to the Republicans, Republicans won't give in to the democrats.

I completely agree - but voting for the other guy is not going to resolve anything. Staying away from the polls is no answer either. Right now, my only recourse is to write to my elected officials and kill them with emails and letters.
