DENVER - Twenty-three congressmen warned President Bush in a letter yesterday that he risks an election-year backlash from Republican voters if he continues to press his guest-worker proposal.
The Republican lawmakers said their congressional offices have received a flood of angry letters, e-mails and phone calls from Republican constituents vowing that they will refuse to vote for the president if his program is approved.

Those go to citizens. You get real, I have no desire to have to move my family because my state has been overrun by lawbreakers due to Bush's actions.
We threaten people who download music files with jail time and large fines, yet we do next to nothing to those that violate our border. And yet people still believe Bush when he says he wants to protect us. His actions show that to be a lie.

The cat's outta the bag. As far as I'm concerned the damage is done no matter what he does now. I no longer trust him. Apparently Bush wasn't watching TV when Gray Davis suggested giving illegal aliens drivers licenses, while spending tax money like a drunken 22 year old sailor, as Californian's marched Davis to the gallows and hung him with a political rope

I would not have known about what he said as governor, and to be honest, I would have voted for him, just to make sure Gore did not get in. I know he mentioned it before 9/11, with his meeting with Fox.

Why won't you help us call, write, and fax the president, senate and house, asking them not to vote or pass any immigration law, until they enforce the Federal Immigration Laws of the United States, that is the law now.
If the Senate and Congress get enough flack, they will hesitate to pass any thing pertaining to immigration.
Donate and support any body running for the senate and house that has a firm stand against any amnesty or guest worker program.

Well, let me put it to you this way - with regard to my vote - when Bush, Sr. was running a second term - we were disgusted and voted Peroh. Well, you know what the outcome of that was - we got stuck with a Clinton for 8 years. I will write my senator prior to November, 04. That is the best I can do. I refuse to get stuck with a Kerry character.

A great deal of California's problem with illegals ,and other things, is a mostly a self inflicted wound. Too generous social welfare,
Alot of the problem in the West is the powerful Hispanic lobbies and groups like the Ford Foundation buying the politicians. Even many of the liberals are against the invasion. The Politicians are owned by business and foreign interests. AZ is a good example of that. Look at that bunch! But most of the people are dead set against it.

Government grew less when we had Clinton. Why? Because the congress got off its butt and did it's job. Under Bush the don't do anything without checking with Rove/Bush first. That isn't they way our system is supposed to work.

I can read the papers and the government crime stats. You, on the other had, just seam like you will go along with Bush on whatever he does. I bet if he came out and said he supported abortion you and your fellow BushBots would agree.
He is president of the United States, not President of Mexico. You should think about what his policies are doing to this country and stop worshiping him like he is some kind of god.

The Rove Republicans are in for a shock come election day when they find out how many Conservatives have left the party. Unless they've swung alot of the Democrat vote their way, he'll lose.
To: 13foxtrot
That's what the Rove Republicans are banking on. No that is what republicans and a very large segment of independents are counting on. The "base" has shown itself to be more opposition party than anything else. Bush owes the "base" nothing.
To: Texasforever
Bush is simply following up on an issue he has advocated ever since he began his political career. These guys all knew that and now wait until an election year to warn him. It wont work.Bush had simply better look at what the American people want instead of what Bush wants.
We elect leaders to do what is best, in the best interest of America. Bush is wrong for even suggesting this "plan". It's like trying to put out a fire by throwing gasoline bombs on it.

" At least two states, Arizona and California, are witnessing grass-roots uprisings to counter the flood of illegal immigrants. Both states have organizers gathering signatures for November ballot measures that would ban social services to illegal immigrants." Looks like you're getting your wish. Good luck with it. Our RAT reps won't even give us the time of day on this issue, and Arkansas is overrun with this plague.

He hasn't taken any action so far that was either a surprise to me or not understandable given the state of the country over the past 3 years.

The quickest way for these guys to get Bush's stubborn streak in high gear is to threaten him. The outrage coming from Arizona is not a threat, it's a promise.

All of us in here know that the administration - or people close to them - read these threads. That is good. Now, if you want to double your exposure to the party, go over to the GOP USA web site, register for their forum, and post there as well.
The link is here. Then click on the "Forum" tab.
That site could use some more FReeper input (although the format is a little cheesey). I've only posted a dozen times in the last year there, and mostly on this issue. I've yet to run into another FReeper in there, and that should change. The party chiefs definitely read the threads over there, or a general digest of them at the very least.

Believe it or not - there will never be a president who will do everything as we expect all the time. Every president in history whether I voted for them or not has done SOMETHING to piss me off. You have to vote for someone and and we are not making that person God just because we did so.

You and I shall disagree about the President's proposal, and that's okay, we can :-) One thing we are in agreement on is tha t, yes it is a problem,I think W is forcing a lot of hands with this and the outcome is still not yet seen. Tell you what,I'll bet you a Lime Diet coke that he will rope some dopes with this thing. He seems to do tha ta lot .Whaddya say? We got a bet?

Bush owes the "base" nothing. The Rove Republicans are practicing Clinton-esque unprincipled leadership, it didn't work for the Democrats and it will not work for the Republicans.
By unprincipled leadership I mean to describe how they so easily act "conservative" on one issue and then "liberal" on the next.
This behaviour is driven by pure political expediency.

"Polly Baca, head of the Latin American Research and Service Agency in Denver, said the letter sounded like a "vendetta" against undocumented workers." No you ignorant b***h, we are tired of our country being overrun by these people who ignore the rules and create an enormous tax burden on citizens (you know, those people who actually have a right to be here) and who are driving the wages down for everybody, not to mention putting legitimate immigrants at a severe disadvantage and penalizing them for following the rules when they too only want to better things for themselves and their families. I am so sick of you people carrying on as if America owes these invaders a living along with some special status. We owe them nothing but a one way trip back to Mexico, or in some instances, wherever else they might have cone from via Mexico (in many cases).

Selling out the US to Mexico & selling sacrificing the Christians in China on the alter of trade are things that I am not sure I can forgive Bush for.
Not to mention his almost complete lack of progress on the antiabortion front. Speeches and little changes to the law do not save the thousands of kids that are being murdered.

"White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said yesterday that she hadn't yet seen the letter, but stressed the importance of the president's proposal in controlling illegal immigration. "The president's temporary-worker program is a well thought-out aimed at improving border security, meeting our economic needs and being compassionate to those trying to improve their situation for themselves and their families,"
There was not one word mentioned about securing the borders, and we do not call registering lawbreakers, and changing the laws to make them legal, a legitimate way to control illegal immigration.
This, "well thought out plan" had nothing to do with border security, had no means to track these individuals, and the billions spent on the useless agencies that would be created to not fulfill their function would be better spent on enforcement.
Our first duty to compassion should be to ourselves, our culture, our national identity, our sovereignty. It will not be set aside for some self serving politicians false call to duty to improve the situtation of those that would destroy the nation by their mere presence at the ballot box and the sheer numbers of their illegal invasion.
To: 13foxtrot
This behaviour is driven by pure political expediency. OK you tell me. A moderate republican, Bush, eeked out a 523 vote win in Florida over the most socialist democrat of our time. This country is split right down the middle politically and every top issue the voters say is important is big government spending and involvement. What red meat conservative is there that is going to win in that environment?
