Even the lovely and gracious Mara Liaison agreed that it was a mistake to bring that up to Powell.

The whole panel said the congressman was way overmatched.

I want to see Powell hop the desk and beat them in them up. See, the Bush team was just chomping at the bit for the primaries to end. The dems will be in the corner by Friday cowering in fear.

You might not agree with what's being said, but you damn well better show respect for the age, rank and reputation of the speaker.

Dems have no respect.

Thanks, I wasn't familiar with this Sherrod Brown before this incident. But now I am.....

"Some Ohio Republican lawmakers had misgivings about the planning for President George W. Bush’s Labor Day [2003] speech to union members near Cleveland but say the White House did not address their concerns."

"Brown, who delivered the keynote address at the anti-Bush rally, told The Hill that the rally was scheduled to take place at a park near Bush’s event. But Brown said the U.S. Secret Service informed him Friday afternoon that the rally would be moved to a state recreational center farther away.

A White House spokesman said the Secret Service made the decision because of security concerns.

But Brown discounted that. “It’s just a way to harass opponents. This is the most secretive White House we’ve ever seen. The White House does not brook dissent,” he said."

It is nice to see Secreatary Powell show some backbone and go after the Rats, especially when some little young puke has the audacity to shake his head in a congressional hearing when the Secretary was talking. As usual, no class or etiquette.

I see many hear are happy about this, as I am. But, if things follow the historical pattern over the past few years, this newfound backbone and challenging of the Democrats will be another one time deal.

The Senate Republicans are cowards and have no backbone to fight and the Dems know that. The pubbies are scared that if they start firing back, as did Powell, they will be vilified by the Dems as "partisan, combative, not willing to work together", etc., etc.

Plus, as we all know, the Senate Republicans are more concerned with getting negative press from the NYTMSNBCWPABCCBSPBSLAT than to stand up and FIGHT.

Yes, Mr. Powell showed great strength today. I will not hold my breath to see if any of this will rub off on the Senate Republicans.

Powell was one steely-eyed man in answering this clown. He totally outmatched Brown. Reminded me of GENERAL Powell. It was spectacular to watch.

The panel on Brit's show all thought that the comment by
Brown was completely out of line.

But when Brown contrasted Powell's military experience to Bush's record with the National Guard, saying the president "may have been AWOL" from duty, Powell exploded.

This is SO good on SO many levels. It's good that Powell reacted--and reacted as he did. We can't let this stand any longer.

And, it's good that the President's team is exploding...and not the President.

Thanks for the "ping", Howlin!

Yep, cowering in fear is the right analogy! I submit there won't be a box of Depends to be had in D.C. after the primaries. Or Pepto Bismol.
