Seriously, every time I hear someone trying to tie China in to their interest rates in any significant manner I just shake my head.

Most people don't have any idea whatsoever what they are talking about, or HOW China effects rates.

If you think China is bringing your rates down you're smoking something...

I don't believe I wrote the China is bringing my mortgage interest rates down. What I think that I wrote is that someone from China is financing my ability to participate in home ownership. I think that I also wrote that that person is getting a fairly sh*tty real return on their investment too. Maybe you're reading somewhere between the lines...that I'm snorting. I don't smoke, it's bad for my lungs.

How is out-sourcing customer service innovative? Please I really want to know the answer to this question. Thus far this is mainly what they have outsourced right?

And if you can answer that one you may be able to keep HP afloat within the next 5 years under Carly... she's bad for business, bad for HP, and bad for well crap HP just sucks- maybe it ain't her fault... but then maybe it is.

Do people really think America can't snap back to basic manufacturing if needs be? Ridiculous.

yes, that is the key fact. everyone at large corporations where this is taking place is talking about it. everyday, all the time. and the more Bush talks about steroids, the fewer votes he is going to get.

When you say that, what exactly do you mean.

Try for me to make that connection as to what direction you are going with this...

Not that anyone ever had a "right" to a job in the first place. That kind of thinking just bred laziness and unjustifiable self-righteousness.

no one is saying they want a "right" to a job. what we want is our elected government to deliver a fair system through which citizens can obtain jobs. we don't want easy visa systems, and bad trade deals, and all other kinds of accomodations made for corporations because they donate large sums of money to the political class. we don't want a socio-economic structure that consists of well connected wealthy elites, working poor, and a middle class made up mostly of government employees.

Yes I did.

This woman represents a growing danger to society with her myopic view towards "outsourcing". She represents a new breed of CEO who sees "outsourcing" instead of innovation as a mandatory essential first step in maximizing shareholder returns.

There is no altruism in her actions, the truth is that she and others like her could care less about "the world", "next generation workers" or "next generation technologies", so don't be fooled. Completely devoid of any moral compass, her motivation is profit, plain and simple and if that involves exploiting cheap overseas labor, then so be it.

Don't get me wrong, Im all for capitalism and making money. What irks me though is those who use the "betterment of the world" as some sort of twisted justification for their outsourcing.

An analogy might be a man who spends his time helping prostitutes with their "financial burden" while neglecting his family at home.

You folks from the planet of "Feel Good Now", give me a headache. You don't hear the alarm bells now because the other 200,000,000 have not arrived yet, they will soon, but they are not all here yet.

Of the estimated 50,000,000 here now, legally and illegally, most are right now winding their way through our public school system, where they ain't hackin it, if you read the stats. In fact many of them won't finish high school, and given this jobless recovery, and out sourcing, little things like the finite number of taxpayers, the finite number of jobs open in the bio-medical field; which they tout as the only foreseeable job source, these new non-graduates might find themselves a tad disappointed that there are no jobs and little in the way of welfare payments.

They will have few options, go back to their country of origin that has become foreign to them, riot, steal, have babies.

But hey, as long as it doesn't pop loose during your lifetime and you can buy a stereo for $20.00 who cares, right?

"... folks from the planet of "Feel Good Now", give me a headache"

I call them The I've Got Mine Club (and screw the rest of you little people)

Some folks are just too self absorbed to get it ... until they get bit squarely on the ass themselves.

Was talking with a school board member yesterday and he stated that without any layoffs, the tax rate would go up another ~25% this year. That is on top of the 20% it went up last year and the 10% the year prior.

The increases are due to the state employee retirement system increases, health care increase and special ed cost increases, and many of these increases are with costs that are state mandated.

The board basically took the ax out and started cutting. They got the tax rate increase down to around 10-11%. I believe they cut arts, music, technology position, etc. There's still a possibility that the budget may be defeated and then the sports programs will take a hit. My guess is that it may come to that. This area is not gaining a lot of population and people may say enough is enough. Sports programs are nice, but there has to be some priorities with the available tax dollars. I have no children. If I did, I believe I would want them to get a good education to preare them for first, sports second.

The district was trying to get a football program going with a neighboring school district, but now the neighboring district may have to refund a substantial amount of dollars to a large power generating plant. That means no football program, from where I see it.

It's going to get a lot worse, I fear.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Trying to connect anything that I've written on this thread and twist its meaning to suggest that I support illegal immigration is, quite frankly, intellectually dishonest. On the issue of illegal immigration we probably share the same position. However, legal immigration is a completely acceptable proposition for me.

An analogy might be a man who spends his time helping prostitutes with their "financial burden" while neglecting his family at home.

That's pretty good, and funny!

But in this particular analogy, as you've presented it, the hooker doesn't feel exploited - in fact she enjoys what she does -, the guy's wife doesn't feel neglected at all - in fact she's a bit of a swinger too -, the kids will have more opportunities in their futures, and only the wife's brother is disgruntled because his collectivist union out-priced him out of a job at the local mill. He'll be able to stay with the family until he gets back on his feet. He can do some sh*t around the house to earn his keep in the mean time.

And this link [below] should deal with the rest of the things you've written. Try reading the whole article, agree or disagree (with it), these ideas are the stubborn paradigms that you're dealing with when you're trying to figure out where I'm coming from.

It was not my implication that you support it, but I must ask, just how short sighted are your rose colored glasses not to figgure that factor into the equation?
