THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST.. (It's here!!).. Live thread!

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST.. (A HIT OR A MISS?).. Live thread!

Contrary to popular media pronouncements, the first of the commercial showing of this long awaited, landmark, and controversial film has already debuted and the misconceptions that the fate of this endeavor hangs in the balance.. That is HOGWASH.. The Passion of the Christ is on the brink of a record breaking opening, in spite of the limited available screens, and the all out, and outragous efforts on the part of the National Media's near unanimous rejection, and the Hollywood establishment roadblocks to stymie this motion picture and it's brilliant and courageous director/producer..

I just receive a call from friends that attended a church sponsored midday showing of the movie with more than 850 of their fellow flock. The collective response was "it was sobering and breathtaking, and they existed with a profound feeling of moral inadequacy".

I toyed with the idea of accepting an invitation to book a private showing at a local theater for this weekend, however after calling a few local churches to help fill the seats I discovered that all (I call 12) of the parishes and neighborhood churches had already secured their own private dates with sellout crowds.. Every one of them had sold the seats within a day of their announcements... I just may book a threater in three weeks for all of my friends and family, that wish to watch it again, and again..

and good Protestants might not wish to do that given our age old disagreements with Rome and the Pope.

Then how about start your own thread, and stop trying to hijack threads with the same old same old tired old canards?

What is a new point y'all wish to make, beyond the RC Church is the "Whore of Babylon"

You know what I mean.

Go away, please.

And don-o is not a Roman Catholic.

Most people eat popcorn at movies. He's just asking if anyone wants to see the movie with him. I do.

As it will be dinner time when I'm seeing the movie, I'll be buying some to eat. It will be hard to see, and surely the weight of the movie is serious. However, I'm sure I'll be able to handle eating and crying at the same time.

It doesn't mean that I (or anyone else that eats or drinks during this movie) takes it less serious.

My thoughts exactly. As much as I love a tub of popcorn I think I'll pass. I was thinking the theater owers will at some point mention that concession sales are the lowest ever for a movie. Just not the kind of movie people will feel confortable muching. But then again, the rude moviegoers I have witnessed the last few years I may be wrong.

We purchased advance tickets online from our local theater.

Right outside the theater they have a nifty machine where we just slide in our credit card and the tickets will pop out, so no lines for us.

First showing is Wednesday, here, our tickets are for the 7:15 showing.

we all believe the same thing -- The Lord Jesus Christ died up on the cross so that we may have life everlasting.

Badda-ping!

Nicely put.

With all due repect, this is NOT a movie to view with popcorn.

True, however the Movie Theaters make nearly all their money on concessions and literally no money on the movie. So if nobody buys popcorn or cokes, then the theaters will be hesitant to show pictures like this again in the future.

So buy some popcorn and some candy and some cokes. Support the theaters that are courageous enough to show this film. Heck, don't eat the popcorn, give it to the guy behind you in line. Show a little christian charity. Or if you really feel generous, buy a pair of tickets for the guy behind you in line.

It's time Christians work together for things that we all believe.

Amen to that!

I also have waited a long time for this. I bought 12 tickets for me and my family. We will be seeing it on Friday. By the way, just called for 2 more tickets and they were sold out.
Thank you Mel Gibson for having the courage to put the greatest story ever told in front of this nation that is slowly losing the morals and principles taught to us by Jesus.

And thank you Jesus for Your sacrifice, may it move many who do not know You to seek You out. They will never regret it.

Good point.

Being pregnant, I seriously have to munch on several small snacks/meals during the day to avoid queasiness and heartburn from larger meals.

I might buy some popcorn, I might not, but I will not be called rude because I am taking care of the dietary needs of myself and my unborn child.

Roman Catholics are not your enemy friend. You would do better to direct your animus at the secular humanists whose gospel is moral relativism.

After all, it is a Roman Catholic who has put the Lord Jesus Christ front and center in the minds of all Americans.

And one other thing, RC's do not think that Mary, the Mother of the Lord Jesus, is a deity. It shows a profound misunderstanding of RC doctrine and tradition to claim such a thing.

Not only is Mel on O'rielly tomorrow night but the PAX Special "The Making of The Passion of the Christ" will be Rebroadcast on PAX Network Tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7 PM ET.

The Making was an awesome show, with great interviews of Mel and cast, and a lot of insight into the movie. Not to mention a boatload of scenes that will give you a feel for what you are about to experience.

Mel, could not have picked better actors. it is almost as if they had been predestined for the roles. Jim Caviezal is amazing, Miai Morgenstern is Mary exactly as I would have pictured her, and Satan is pure evil in looks and movement (creepy). And what can one say about Monica Bellucci as Mary Magdelene...sighhhhh. Oh sorry, where was I?

Congratulations on your growing family. I hope I did not imply that people who choose to snack during the movie are being rude. I was passing along an observation made by a friend who attended a preview at Willow Creek a few weeks ago. In our Christian liberty we have the freedom to eat or not to eat!
