Before this is even considered, there are a few "loose ends" to clear up - like allowing dual citizenship, running for office or voting in a foreign election. Mexico comes to mind, but there are probably others.
You're either American, or you ain't - not American and . . .
Hyphenated Americans have hyphenated loyalties.

Then Klinton was re-elected. Proof the anything can happen. That didn't require a Constitutional amendment which is much harder to do.

NEVER should a foreign citizen become the president of the United States...even after 20 years.
Think about it folks...some terrorist cells have been in the United States for over 8 years....in 12 more years, they could run for President.

Schwarzenegger is as dishonest and venal a politician as Clinton ever was. The problem is that the public, and even a good many freepers, have yet to figure it out.

Are you sure that's correct? I thought that "native-born" means that you are American by right of birth, as opposed to having been naturalized. Someone born of two American citizens is an American citizen by right of birth. Did you have to get naturalization papers?

the name most often mentioned as someone who might be unleashed by the Hatch amendment is Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Canadian-born Democrat. She moved to California at four with her family, was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and attended UC Berkeley. That should disqualify her on at least 3 counts.

Say a married French couple, both French citizens, come to the U.S. and while they are here, a child is born to them. The child has dual citizenship; American, because he was born here, and French, as both his parents are French citizens. This is not at all unusual. Most countries permit that child to hold dual citizenship until they are 18, at which point they have to choose, as you did.
But I believe that both countries view the child as "native-born" citizens of their country.

No You do not have to be born on US Soil. Both my daughter and son where born in Germany when he was stationed there. He was a native born US Citizen. I was not

You are wrong.
If one of your parents is/was a U.S. citizen and you were born out of the country, you can still become U.S. president.
In Anrold's case, neither parent was a U.S. citizen.
Please forgive me for saying this, but if you do not know this by now, please keep away from the presidency.

I did not spend any time researching the topic since I accepted what I learned at five.
