Jmstein7: My Experience at the "Anti-War Protest" in Manhattan Today

Anti-Semitism was at a fevered pitch in New York City today.  After posting my new ad on FR, I decided to take a walk up Fifth Avenue to see what was going on.  I wasn't five feet from my door before I saw a scraggly looking guy carrying a sign that said, "Free Palestine!  Stop the Terrorist Zionist Entity!"  Well, that was enough for me.

I turned right around, went home, and grabbed my American Flag and "Jane Fonda Kerry" sign from the Vietnam Vets Against Kerry Rally a few weeks ago.  Proudly holding my flag and sign, I proceeded to march right up Madison Avenue, along the protest route.  I started getting shouts of "capitalist pig!" and "impeach Bush" from freeze-dried hippie-types marching down the street.  When I started shouting "go back to the U.S.S.R. Commies," a rather harried police officer asked me to move along and not taunt the "peace protestors," whom he told me had picked more than a few fist-fights already.

At about 42nd Street, I finally found the good-guys, the cavalry -- ProtestWarriors.Com.  They were on the corner, in a large group, with great signs, waiting for a police escort down the street.  I introduced myself as a FReeper, and they gave a a big sign to carry.  It read "Islam -- The Religion of Peace" right over a big picture of the plane flying into tower 1 of the WTC.

I noticed an Irish guy (on our side) with a megaphone.  I asked him if I could borrow it, and I started a chant of "Hey, hey -- ho, ho -- Terrorist Appeasers Have to Go!!!"  Well, that stirred up some commotion, and a bunch of protestors came over and started shouting at us.  One of them actually hit one of the nice ladies I was with and wrecked her sign.  They were vicious! 

Finally, the cops came and we started walking down the route -- heckled every step of the way.  There were PA systems everywhere, and a pompous, British-sounding guy started by denouncing Israel for committing "terrorist acts" against the "Palestinian People."  I couldn't take it anymore, so I gave PW my info and left.

That's my little story.  I would be shocked if the AP reported that the "Peace Protest" was being run by socialist anti-Semites.

It always amazes me how the peace protesters and the "anti-violence" anti-gunners are always the ones to initiate violence.
