There is a huge billboard a couple of miles over the maryland state line from me that claims "SHS kills." I'm giong to see if I can convince hubby to drive me up there on Friday, so I can get a picture of it.....I want to see who is paying for it.

I'd LOVE to see THAT, Gabz!

You're right about the "kiddies" the picture on the MD billboard is of a child....it's for them.........

All those TV debates I did with that fat anti-smoker Carlson were about banning smoking on beaches in New Jersey...and they were a couple of years ago. I'll have to dig out those tapes, I haven't watched them in a while.

Hey, I have an aversion to ugly women in Berkenstocks who don't shave their legs, but you don't see me calling for a ban on San Francisco, do you? They used to put cans with sand in them outside of entrances so people could snuff out their butts before entering the building. As far as I am concerned that makes the beach one giant butt can!!!!

How long until some whackjob suggests F*rt Police to apprehend noisome public contributors to global warming.

It makes as much sense as SHS in the open air, fer crissakes!

I wish the spring breakers would take their breaks at the beaches in California! They think they have a problem with BUTTS?! heh! Wait until the kiddies dig in the sand and pull out all those used condoms and BEER cans. LOL!

The operative phrase is bolded. I don't know about California, but I do know that in Delaware there are no trash receptacles of any kind at the beaches or state parks. The state parks do provide visitors with trash bags.....but no place to dispose of them upon leaving

Forget about beer cans........my big gripe is broken bottles......you can't walk barefoot on half the beaches in Delaware because of all the broken glass.

That could be VERY dangerous! Broken glass under the sand. "I" sure wouldn't want to step on something like THAT! I feel the pain right now. ouch!

We stopped giong to many beaches in Delaware, we enjoy surf-fishing, before we moved, because we were afraid of our daughter getting cut while playing in the sand.

I can sympathize with people disliking the litter, I can't stand to see it either............but there is an alternative......it's called trash receptacles.

Last week I discovered why there appears to be so little litter on the sides of the roads here.......the county sheriff has work crews (they used to be called chain gangs) that clean up the ditches along the roads on a fairly regular basis.

And speaking of the County Sheriff, I need to go pay my county taxes so I can get new stickers for my cars before they expire and the sheriff comes after me!!! FReep at you later.

I know whenever we went to the beach or camping, we always took our own trash bags with us. We never left trash anywhere on the beach or around the campsite. It's just common sense.

Ok, talk to you later. Drive safe!

OK, so you're on the beach in your bathing suit and you light up. Smoke Patrol officer spots ya and whips out her ticket book.

Who cares?

"Let's see some ID."

"I'm in my bathing suit."

What's your name?"

"Michael Tyson."

"OK, Michael, here's a $250 ticket. Don't smoke on the beach again!"

Smoke Patrol officer wriggles off to her next victim, metesky tears up ticket and lights up.

Next headline: City loses millions on beach tickets.

I don't know why you keep pinging me on these anti-smoking threads you post! I get home from a bad day at work, pour myself a martini, sit down at my computer, log on to FR, light up a cigarette, access my alert only to find more of the sameo sameo! !! Stop it!

OK, so maybe I asked to be put on your list. Now that I've had a chance to vent, keep me on it.

There is no way I would ever consider living in that state, people out there are just too damn weird........Bath houses yea, smoking nay!

We were on a beach in Florida for about 3 minutes

Glad you left. Nothing worse than a nico-whiner and plus you allowed us to use up the space you were standing in to deposit our butts in the last remaining clear spot..........(no sarcasm>

Funny but the only thing I find disgusting at a beach is a middleaged fat man with a hairy back in a speedo or a middleaged fat broad in a little bikini. After those sights, cigarette butts and fastfood carryout bags seem inconsequential.........

My advice is to stay at your hotel pool where there's less chance of getting bitten by sand fleas......

If I lived there, I would take a drive to that sign at about 3:30 a.m. with a spray can of paint and spray over it "Abortion"......

I don't know why you keep pinging me on these anti-smoking threads you post!

1. I didn't peg you to this thread.

2. I seldom post threads, and even more rarely do I post "anti-smoking" threads. In fact, I usually stay off of the smoking/smoking ban threads altogether.

3. I posted this article and pegged my WFTD friend Gabz to the article because I saw the article, found that it wasn't posted on FR, and thought Gabz would like to see the article.

4. Glad you had a chance to vent; I'm guessing that Gabz or one of the other Smokers' Lounge regulars pinged you to the thread. Have a great evening.
