America no longer white, united, English-speaking
The Miami Herald ^ | 02 April 2004 | Patrick J. Buchanan

Posted on 04/03/2004 11:22:26 AM PST by MegaSilver

In 1960, when JFK defeated Nixon, America was a nation of 160 million, 90 percent white and 10 percent black, with a few million Hispanics and Asians sprinkled among us.

We were one nation, one people. We worshipped the same God, spoke the same English language, studied American history and English literature, honored the same heroes, read the same books, watched the same TV shows, went to the same movies and saw ourselves as defenders of Western civilization against the godless communism of the Soviet Empire.

We were confident and proud of who we were. That was yesterday. But due to the Immigration Act of 1965 and the cultural revolution of the '60s, that America is now gone forever. And as one studies the latest projections of the Census Bureau, the America of our grandchildren will be another country altogether, a nation unrecognizable to our parents, a giant Brazil of the North.

In 2050, there will be three times as many people living here as in 1960 -- 420 million. White Americans will be a minority, 49 percent, and falling. Hispanics in the United States, more than 100 million, will be equal to the population of today's Mexico. Our Asian population will be almost as large as our African-American population today.

By countries of origin, America will be a Third World nation. Our cities will look like Los Angeles today. Los Angeles and the cities of Texas, Arizona and California will look like Mexico City.

Writing in Foreign Policy, Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington, author of Who We Are, raises an alarm about the huge infusion of Hispanics into the Southwest, and for many reasons.

Much of this mass immigration is illegal. Vast numbers are coming here only to work. They are not assimilating. They do not want to become Americans. They are concentrating in states bordering Mexico, which is their country and a nation with a historic grievance against us. They are holding on to their language and culture, creating a Hispanic nation within our nation. By 2050, there will be scores of millions of people living here whose loyalty is to a foreign country.

Moreover, as multiculturalism has captured our schools and colleges, immigrant children will have prejudices and grievances against America and the West reinforced as they learn. The academic elite that controls these schools already paints America as a nation with a rancid history of genocide, slavery, racism, oppression and imperialism.

Is the Census Bureau future the future that Americans wish? No. Are they willing to risk it for their grandchildren? No.

Why, then, does that future appear inevitable?

Answer: Though a majority of Americans wish to preserve the land they grew up in for their children, our elites -- political, academic, cultural and corporate -- are either unwilling to conserve that America or indifferent to its disappearance.

Most Americans want immigration cut back and all illegal aliens sent back. Why is the will of the majority, expressed in polls and referenda, not reflected in law or policy? Because we no longer live in a democratic republic; we are ruled by a managerial elite.

America's corporate elites want an endless supply of cheap labor. Our judges throw out popularly enacted laws to which they object. Our academic elites work to see ''white, racist America'' disappear. Our neo-Marxist cultural elites wish to be the gravediggers of the West and of Christian culture. And America's conservative party, the Republican Party, believes that Hispanics hold the key to retention of presidential power and is anxious not to offend Mexican President Vicente Fox.

If, by 2050, the America we grew up in has become a Tower of Babel of squabbling minorities that is falling apart, it will be because of the treason of the elites, and our lack of will to overthrow them.

I'm sticking with what I posted earlier. But, by the way, it was not a slam at legal immigrants of any sort and not a slam at the long established Tejano and 'mexican descent' people who's families might well have been here before any of ours.

It's also not a slam at the people who were already here, also immigrants, before europeans showed up. And, note that they also are ancestors of what we generally consider to be 'mexican'.

Race, or in this case 'national heritage', has a place in our self image and perhaps those we select for friends. It does not have a role in redefining our society, goals, or culture as is being witnessed in los angeles. THAT change is due to massive and mostly illegal importation of the same practices and expectations they supposedly left behind; and THAT is the most telling indicator of the illegal's intent and impact.

Can you locate Spain on a map?

Actually, no one accused you of engaging in pedophilia. I simply noted in passing that you must have a large collection of graphics to draw upon in drawing racial contrasts between Hispanics and whites. If your "interpretation" of facts causes you to construe tangential remarks as accusations of pedophilia, there are sources of help for you. Remember: the pharmaceutical companies are your friends. Unfortunately, critical thinking is not your friend. Much as we'd like to help you overcome your cognitive and perceptual defects, the best we can do is point out your mistakes. We can't force you to recognize them.

Let's review your errors. You posted a photo of Native Americans from South America and think that somehow demonstrates Hispanics aren't white. As several posters repeatedly pointed out, Native Americans from South America are no more Hispanic than Native Americans from North America are Anglo-Saxon Protestants. That you fail to see this glaring flaw in your reasoning even after it's been pointed out by several people suggests that your screen name should be an acronym for "too little intelligence."

You might have run across something called a globe or an atlas at some point during your six or more years of high school. Had you paid attention in class, you might have learned that the settlers who colonized what is now called North America came from Western Europe and that the settlers who colonized what is today called South America also came from Western Europe. That would have provided a clue that there was a flaw in your "Hispanics aren't White" thesis. The Rita Hayworth photo should have provided another another clue. It's a simple enough matter to verify that she was Hispanic. Try asking around if you still aren't sure she was "white."

My apologies if Rita's photo offended you. You must have been offended by it since I only posted two photos and you complained about "offensive photos" -- note the plural.

As to the second photo, I'm glad you brought that up because I forgot to include the following important disclaimer: any resemblance to persons posting on this thread is coincidence. Glad I was able to point that out. I wouldn't want anyone accusing me of posting information about another poster's identity.

Besides, you probably moved since that photo was taken. ;-)

There was a land mass where what is now called "South America" in the past. I think we can be reasonably certain that the area now known as Mexico was settled after the continental drift.

Well, whatever they are now is different than 30 years ago, and most certainly different around the time the area now know as Mexico was settled. Which was my original point.

Actually, no one accused you of engaging in pedophilia.

No? let's see...

“and a little blond, blue-eyed Scandanavian girl... part of your Vast jpeg collection I presume”

Innuendo is a very subjective thing, current legal interpretations on the subject indicate the offense taken is the deciding criteria, stumbling around an excuse will not negate the crime.

“there was a flaw in your "Hispanics aren't White" thesis “

Well, no they are not. I detect no other take on your statements other than you believe they are “white.” Caucasian perhaps? Your command of the English language indicates you SEEM to be capable of a rational thought, perhaps you can explain a somewhat more base example of your apparent concept....

Are the same as . . .

Perhaps you can justify my understanding of your point by saying both items begin with the letter "B?"

Or is it both items would cause pain if you got hit with one?

How about both items can be thrown a reasonable distance? No?

How about what you and others here are just hopping from one foot to another in anticipation of "proving" is that through some convoluted sequence of "logic" two different things are the same because they share some common traits?

suggests that your screen name should be an acronym for "too little intelligence."

Too little intelligence . . humm... personal attack. That should be beneath you, however, your words seem to speak for themselves.

You might have run across something called a globe or an atlas at some point during your six or more years of high school. Had you paid attention in class, you might have learned that the settlers who colonized what is now called North America came from Western Europe and that the settlers who colonized what is today called South America also came from Western Europe.

Sooooo, what you are stating is the North America and South America (including Central America?) were devoid of human existence till the “Europeans” moved in? This will be BIG news to historians. Those folks seem to have this absurd notion that there was a native population present. In rather large numbers. Glad to have you clear that up.

The Rita Hayworth photo should have provided another another clue. It's a simple enough matter to verify that she was Hispanic. Try asking around if you still aren't sure she was "white."

I have read this one several times. . Nothing. . . It just does not make sense. Are you stating she is “hispanic?” Others here indicate there is no such thing, Some describe it using several different terms. You state she is hispanic, and then you seem to assure me she was “white” and I can just ask anyone. Who am I supposed to ask?

As to the second photo, I'm glad you brought that up because I forgot to include the following important disclaimer: any resemblance to persons posting on this thread is coincidence. Glad I was able to point that out. I wouldn't want anyone accusing me of posting information about another poster's identity.

Yet another personal attack. Wipe that smile off you face mister, everyone knows exactly what you meant. Shortcut to thinking dude. Typical when the reasoning process runs out of options. I suppose you will feign innocence on that as well. Too many trips to the well bud, you are not impressing me.

Now, I see lots of words and you still have not proved your point. Heck, you haven't even clearly stated what it is, other than an obsession to insult me for stating a very simple fact. Let me hazard a guess. Some mindset you seem to posses encourages you to proclaim that what is commonly recognized as “hispanic” is in fact what is commonly thought of as “white.” Is THAT the cause you are trying to champion? If so, say so. An indefensible position is in itself somewhat akin to insanity but most here in the u.S. still root for the underdog. Not a good move but you are so committed to something, (we are still waiting for you to say clearly what it is) it is far too late to back off now.

Besides, you probably moved since that photo was taken. ;-)

Nice try, but I don't drink beer.

The trick is to convince the legal and contributing 'Americans of mexican heritage' that the old country is just that ... it should NOT be allowed to spring north lest it destroy what they themselves value here.,

Except for the "professiona Latino" political types, most don't need much convincing. A Tejano friend, a very dark complected one, from near Corpus Christi, surprised my wife about 25 years ago with a remark about "those darn Mexicans".

Pure blood Anglos are damn ugly in general,

What the heck is a "pure blood Anglo"? If you mean English, then you might be right. Ditto French, maybe especially French. But the Scandinavians and other northern Europeans, plus the Irish, are pretty good looking. Italians too, at least the ones I've seen in person.

Brazil was overwhelming black and white 30 years ago, and it is today. You may think that Brazilians and Mexicans look alike, but let me assure you are in the vast minority. Both Brazil and Mexico had Indians prior to European colonization, but the Brazilian indian population has been largely absorbed into the population while Mexico indian heritage is very present today.

The English make great breeding stock, when they are cross fertilized. I should know. I am 100% English, Welsh and Scottish stock, so far as I know. There was a rumor some French was in there, but I think it has been refuted, and is BS (the rumor is that one line of the clan was descended from the bastard brother of Lafayette; how special; another rumor is that the Quebec line was named Benoit, when it turned out to be Bennett, and from Scotland). Maybe the Celtic via the Welsh and Scotch saves me from being butt ugly, as opposed to only modestly ugly. :)

I used to be white before I got here.

I was really shocked when a "Hispanic" lady, no accent so probably a Tejano rather than a Mexican, asked me if my wife was "white". She is, I guess, (German, Danish and Italian, et. al.) but the lady asking the question has nearly as pale skin as my blond wife, and actually lighter hair and skin than my wife's sister (The Italian genes I suppose). I knew she was "Hispanic" but I also thought she looked pretty "white" to me.

My original position was that Mexico was settled in the dim past by South Americans.

As far as is known, it was really the other way round. The first and second groups of "indiginous" Americans migrated from north to south, both having come from Asia. Mexico is part of what is now called North America. The Distinction between North, South and Central America is somewhat artificial, just like that between Asia, African and Europe. There's really only 4 continents, and that's if you count Antartica and Australia. In the far far past, IIRC, there was only one.

LOL! Like I said, critical thinking is not your friend. Your #966 proves my point far better than I could have done. Congratulations. Res ipsa loquitur.

FYI, I never said that bricks are the same as baseballs or that Hispanic is the same as white. That's YOUR erroneous misunderstanding of what others said. Your inability to comprehend simple English, if not feigned, is mind-boggling. If ignorance was money in the bank, you'd be Bill Gates.

I'll say this again as simply as I can and explain the big words since you seem to be a little slow. The word Hispanic (His-pan-ic: big word meaning of or related to Spain or Spanish speaking countries) refers to a person's nationality (na-tion-al-i-ty: big word meaning what country or part of the world your family comes from). Nationality and race are different (dif-fer-ent: big word meaning they are not the same) concepts (con-cepts: big word meaning ideas).

If you ever figure out that nationality and race refer to different things, you just might grasp that people of different nationalities can still be part of the same race. So too, people of different races can have the same nationality. That's what we city slickers call "a fortiori reasoning" (a for-ti-o-ri: big Latin word, it means if one thing is true, the other must be true too; rea-son-ing: big word meaning puttin' on yer thinkin' cap to figure out stuff).

Unfortunately (un-for-tu-nate-ly: big word meaning too bad), the preceding (pre-ced-ing: meaning what I just said) is an oversimplification (o-ver-sim-pli-fi-ca-tion: big word meaning I left out the hard stuff to help a slow poke like you follow it). You see, the term His-pan-ic can refer not only to na-tion-al-i-ty, but also to ethnicity (eth-ni-ci-ty: big word meaning being part of a group of people with common characteristics (char-ac-ter-is-tics: big word meaning features) which may include race and nationality, but other characteristics as well. That may be the source of your confusion (con-fu-sion: big word meaning why you don't have no clue).

Interesting that you chose images of bricks and baseballs for your nonsensical non-sequitur. I can see how you might think they are the same thing. Based on the cognitive disconnect you've demonstrated repeatedly on this thread, I'd say you are either Reginald Denny or took one too many inside fastballs to the head.

Only flaw is that politicians from both parties are playing to the 'representatives' they are most familiar with, and comfortable with.
That pretty much leaves both of my next door neighbors out of the discussion.

No where near that long ago. During or after the last ice age, IIRC. But the people, who came in at least two "waves", the second of which are the American Indians who were here when the Europeans arrived, came from Asia. Exactly how they got here is still something of a mystery. They may have hopped along the coast in small boats, or they may have walked accross a "land bridge" that may have existe at the time.

I know, my paternal grandmother's maiden name was Harrison, and her mother's was Lee. But mixed in with the nearly pure German (Kunz) on my maternal Grandmother's side, along with some unknown contributions from the grandfathers' sides, we aren't impossibly ugly, although sort of strangely built. :)

You want to see hispanic. Here's a Tejano from Houston.

He won't be coming back to trouble you though, he died in Fallujah this week. I don't know if he was white or not white, but I do know that he was an American, a Texan, and a Marine, all of which are far more important to me than some arbitrary classification of "race".
