Under the fair use doctrine, how can a site disallow ANY ‘snippets’ to be posted?

That was my first thought as well. Are there any legal types here who can answer this question?

We are nice guys, plus even if you have a perfectly legal right to do something the other guy has the right to haul you into court about it. How much court time are you willing to pay for (even if you win)?

So, for the pukes who don't want to have any of their content show up here, none of it will show up.

For the most part the public who follow FR are better off not knowing what some of these operations, e.g. Indianapolis Star, are writing ~ just get them upset.

The MSM is slowly dying at 5% or more per year. Eventually they are not going to be there to provide us even limited excerpts. News reporting will take a far different form in that very near future ~ 5 years tops!

Even now many formerly major periodicals have withered away to the point where they don't even have archives available for access on line ~ not even at a price.

I'm a bit concerned some of them are going to go out of business without being scanned and put on DVDs for historic purposes.
