After just two weeks on the air, Air America Radio, the fledgling liberal talk-radio network featuring Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo, appears to have encountered serious cash-flow problems.

The CHICAGO TRIBUNE is developing a story, insiders tell DRUDGE, on how the network was pulled off the air this morning in Chicago and Los Angeles, the network's second- and third-largest markets, because, the owner of both stations said, the network bounced a check and owes him more than $1 million! A charge the network strongly denies...

A Chicago source familiar with the situation said a Multicultural representative showed up at WNTD's offices Wednesday morning, kicked out Air America's lone staffer overseeing the network's feed to the station from New York, switched over to a Spanish-language feed, and changed the locks on the doors...

Air America filed a complaint Wednesday in New York state Supreme Court charging Multicultural with breaching their contract and seeking an injunction to force Multicultural to restore the Air America broadcast on both stations, the TRIBUNE has learned... Developing...

Also, if you could just tell one person to do the same and ask them to tell another, than God willing, we will flood the switchboard with calls and faxes like they have never seem. Perhaps Mr. Kerry could lend them the money they need from his campaign funds. He sure isn't going to do any good with it.
Also, I'd like to keep them on the air at least a little while longer...good radio comedy is almost extinct!!

In Chicago, WNTD is a former Spanish station on 950 AM, with two transmitter locations. It's nondirectional in the day from downtown, with 1000 watts; and it's directional at night with 5000 watts, blasting northward up Lake Michigan from south of town, Neither signal is competitive with the big former "clears", but they could be worse.

Compare that wattage to the 50,000-watt "blower" as the radio hosts on WLS-AM (where Rush and Hannity have airtime) fondly call their host station.

Remember - these aren't commercial shows, they're paid infomercials.

Rush, Sean, Hugh, and the rest, have stations that are paying them to allow them to carry their shows, because they bring in advertising revenue.

Err America is buying airtime. If they stop paying, the stations stop playing.

I really thought it would take more time for "Scare America" to start going belly-up. I guess I underestimated the business ignorance of those involved in this venture.

More evidence that when the left launches an enterprise, unless it receives government funding, it is doomed to failure.
