>> I would love to see Kay Bailey Hutchison replaced here in Texas too. Her current ACU rating is 70%, which is the lowest of her Senate career. She is backsliding year by year. <<

I don't get Texas. All Texas I talk are super conservative. So who the heck voted for Rick Perry, John Cornyn, and Kay Hutchison in the PRIMARY? Talk about a trio of status quo moderates. In Illinois, which OVERRUN with "moderates", those kinds of people only make it through the primary if they are UNOPPOSED for the nomination. We had a Cornyn clone running for the Senate here (Andy McKenna, "I'm conservative cuz I have to be but I get along well with Democrats" kinda guy, and he got only 18% of the primary vote...all the guy ever talked about was jobs and wanted to avoid "devisive social issues" though he CLAIMED to be pro-life, pro-gun and all that)

I remember Cornyn had several conservative opponents in the primary and nobody wanted to promote them. Do people just sit around and let the party "leaders" decide their candidates for them?

Specter has mounted a massive effort to attract volunteers by paying them $50 to $75 dollars per day...

By definition, someone who is being paid for their services is an employee, not a volunteer.

"I have yet to see a Specter sign. I'm seeing more and more Toomey ones."

I'm seeing more Toomey signs than Specter too - by a goodly margin. We're in Montgomery County - home of Joe Hoeffel, unfortunately.

Dent in trouble in PA?
By Mark Zovak

(PA-15th. Congressional District) As Toomey battles Specter and everyone watches. Toomey's open congressional slot is up for grabs. State Senator Charlie Dent, was suppose to be a shoe in. But his prior lead in the polls has evaporated. Running against a candidate that is similar to Toomey. Dent has found himself in a tight battle in the Lehigh Valley. Dr. Joe Pascuzzo, has found a large following of Toomey supporters along the way. Many of them do not like Dent's liberal conservative tactics or views. Since Dent's lead in the race has slipped, Dent has started running negative campaign ads against Pascuzzo. The ad's attack Pascuzzo's tax record as a Lehigh County Commissioner. The ad's may be backfiring, the same way Specter's did against Toomey. As all eyes are on the Specter/Toomey race, another upset could be in the making in Toomey's home area. The 15th Congressional District is a democratic area, but the republicans have had good luck with Toomey and the lack of good democratic candidates.

Why is a 74 yr. old without an original idea (other than citing Scottish law during Clintoon's impeachment) running for yet another 6-yr. term? Don't these people have a life they could live in the 10 years remaining on this mortal coil? And I think much less of Santorum now than I did before. Either Specter has something out of his FBI files, or Rick has no principles. Neither is very admirable.

Specter considers the city of Philadelphia to be his base of support. So the vote hinges on the turnout in Philly and Montgomery County, which put Ed Rendell over the top in his bid for the governorship.

It should be an interesting Tuesday evening, waiting for the results.
