From Tuesday's White House press briefing:

JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: When former President Clinton appeared before the 9/11 Commission he was accompanied by Sandy Berger and Bruce Lindsey. Will President Bush have anyone with him, besides Vice President Cheney?

MR. McCLELLAN: Well, I believe that Al Gonzales, the White House Counsel, will be present. And I would expect that there would be at least one other additional member of the Counsel's Office present. Obviously, we're still two days away from it, so a few things are still being finalized. But I'll keep you posted if there are additional people
present.

Thank you for posting that you asked that question and the answer you received. I did not know you posed it.

Might I also point out that Lindsey made a partisan hullabaloo by making an issue of thousands of Clinton era documents being "withheld" from the commission. The WH said many were duplicates or non-responsive. Lindsey made sure the press heard about it. The Bush administration sent the records over and the commission kept 12 documents...one the MONS that Ben Veniste then slyly insinuated was a "Kill bin Laden" order from Clinton.

Clearly Lindsey's ploy had several angles, one to paint the Bush administration as uncooperative with the commission, two to make it seem Clinton had contibuted to the war on terror during his terms and the information was being deliberately kept (as the clintonista spin would have it) from the commission and us, and three, that Clinton wanted Bin Laden killed---when his orders were much murkier.

At any rate, I sure wish Clinton bringing Berger and Lindsey had been mentioned at the Fox roundtable.
