Are you unsure of what you believe or are you looking for answers that confirm what you do believe?
I know who I am and what I believe in. I know who best politically exemplifies the morals and standards that support my beliefs. I was raised by two good parents who guided me but let me find my own way, even if that included straying (which I admittedly did), because they knew I'd come back to the foundation they had built.
And there you have it. It's why I'm here at this forum. I want to spend time amongst those who share my principles and desire to see our country return to another "Reagan Era" where people are moral and civil and taxes get cut or eliminated, where we can be proud to be Americans and we have a president who lives up to his Constitutional duty to protect us from harm, whether in the form of terrorism or socialism or communism.
Okay. I'm finished for now, but I did find a little something for you.
Kerry: 'I'm Proud I Stood Against Reagan'A day after Ronald Reagan's death Sen. John Kerry praised him for his "love of country" and geniality. But as recently as last year Kerry boasted:
"I'm proud that I stood against Ronald Reagan, not with him, when his intelligence agencies were abusing the Constitution of the United States and when he was running an illegal war in Central America."
That's just one of a series of anti-Reagan quotes unearthed by the Weekly Standard, where the Massachusetts Democrat slams Reagan as everything from an "inexperienced" governor to a dime-store cowboy.
But it was the battle over U.S. aid to Nicaragua's Contra freedom fighters - backed by Reagan and opposed by congressional Democrats - that drove Kerry to extremes.
He was one of 10 signatories to the infamous "Dear Commandante" letter that offered Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega a deal: Don't do anything too overtly Marxist and Democrats would see to it that the Reagan-backed freedom fighters would be denied funding.
After Reagan lost the vote, Ortega promptly traveled to Moscow to get further instructions from his Soviet patrons, leaving Kerry and crew looking like communist dupes.
Gee, haven't you got your own " little Viking kitties zot you?". Get me otta here, already. To be zot or not to be zot.
I hear one half of the country calling the other half every concievably nasty name in the book. Im talking about BOTH sides. That is not the country of free thinkers and free speakers I believe the US can be. Where do either side think this is going to end? The US is split 50/50, neither side is going to get everything they want, so there HAS to be some level of civil discussion - and a start to that is SIMPLY admitting that the other side is not Satan incarnate.
If that is not a discussion that I can find here, if this is just people out-hating Kerry on after the next with no thought to the possibility that BOTH sides want a better USA and just dont agree on how to get there, then I suppose I DO need to find a new forum. Ive had several people point out to me where their views come from. I follow their links and decide for myself. Im predisposed to agreeing with the Democrats on most subjects, but it does me no good to not even KNOW where the right is getting its ideas from.
SO, I will look at the info you gave me, besides suggesting that Im a jackass for not agreeing with you %100, and interpret it my own way. You might give me another way to look at things, you might not. But if people can be civil here, I think alot of good can come from this. If Im wrong for thinking this, well, I suppose Ill find out soon enough.
You'll have to take a number. Could you imagine what that line is going to look like...hundreds...thousands? LOL
oh come on - you are reaching here insinuating that Pres Bush's website is politicizing President Reagan's death. It is a beautiful tribute to the former REPUBLICAN President by a current REPUBLICAN President whose father was President Reagan's VP for eight years. I fear you are the one attempting to politicize Pres Reagan's death.
As far as you being here to exchange ideas and learn, there are many forums out there for you to choose from. Lurk here if you wish, you may learn but I truly think you are here with another agenda. Am I wrong?
P.S. I disagree with you that the US is split 50/50. Perhaps you haven't been on any other thread here at FR to meet our Libertarian friends. Then there are the Naderites, the Purists and the Dontgiveahoots. In addition, I still say you have blinders on if you think Conservatives or Republicans come CLOSE to calling the other half every concievably nasty name in the book. Sure, we do some of that here to vent frustration, but your side has government representatives, people like Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi, spewing such hateful statements that they could be considered treasonous.
I've got another thing to share with you and then ask if you can come up with a similar photo of President Bush. And I'll throw in a couple other ones, your side, in its own words, just for fun.
Did this thread come with the ZOT pre-installed? Dang . . .
I'll repeat here that Tom Selleck was in line behind us and waited the whole time (it was 2:30am when we got on our bus) without a word of complaint or request for special treatment.
OK, so what agenda could I POSSIBLY fulfill by being here other than what Ive said? I want to see inconsistencies in the liberal view of the world, maybe point some out that I see from the right. Clearly no one here is going to "change their minds" due to me, so why even come here for that IF thats the "agenda" you speak of.
All I can do, over time, is keep doing what Ive done so far. I think this has been to politely ask questions, and dig into Kerry's background from Y'ALL's point of view instead of ONLY from the liberal side of things. Is this so wrong? Have any of you all thought of looking at the blatantly liberal sites just to SEE what all the fuss might be about? It is simply INTERESTING. No BS, no insults.
I will answer this tomorrow when Im off, things are getting hectic around the hospital right now. I dont know how to cut and paste pics, only links. So, truce until the AM???
Massachusetts - John Kerry, distraught and teary eyed after visiting the flag draped coffin of ex-president Ronald Reagan, announced his plans to resume the era the Great Communicator left behind.
"I will make this country great again." Said Kerry. "I will go back to values Reagan set, and beyond. Beyond Reagan perhaps, many years ago. Such as a time we were still ruled by England. But say this time it is France. So my message is I will make this country great again, like Reagan, only we all speak French. I will also work on environmental and deficit issue, in French."
Kerry was then seen talking to the newly widowed Nancy Reagan. He was overheard telling others she was a somewhat attractive widow, who must have a fairly sizable net worth.
agenda? To better identify your party's weak points? No one can point them out better and correctly than a FReeper.
Nah, if you haven't recognized Kerry for what he is by now, you will "learn" nothing here.
I've seen the liberal sites, thank you, and there are very few coherent posts - mostly disjointed vulgarities driven by hate. Sad. What are you going to do when those punks rise up against you? They will. My parents' Democrat Party left them. It will leave you too.
