Is there word of any memorial ceremonies in Europe? I wouldn't expect one in France but would expect some sort of vigil at the Brandenburg Gate.

I hope someone doesn't come along here and ask, "Why didn't he take off his hat, and where's his tie?"

Don't know if this has already been posted, but in case not, here is an observation from DU which really displays someone's ignorance, bad taste, and smallness.

"The AP photo linked below clearly shows that a considerable majority of this morning's (Thursday) Reagan mourners in line at the Capitol are corpulent.

Worse yet, two of the mourners are showing disrespect for the flag by wearing it. Of course, they are both significantly overwieght.

The photo also calls into question the media claims that "thousands" of mourners have come to the Capitol. The people in line are loosely scattered in a way that suggests a rather modest turnout."

Be my guest. I know the thread on Pres. Reagan's arrival at the capitol yesterday was somber, but when I saw the Cesar Romero pic, I couldn't resist posting it along side Bela Pelosi.

Hey, you were just doing what we do in my family when we bury someone--We make jokes, because we know where they're going. Ronald Reagan is in the real shining city now.

Ok let me try this in a positive way.

The President's casket was placed, geometrically or not, where it could be viewed and he could be honored by many Americans both on television and those in the rotunda.

The sailor was probably nervous and didn't see his "mark" or whatever, but - these are our finest young men and women and they are the future.

The flower wreaths were probably composed of flowers that were favorites of Pres. Reagan and or Nancy.

Those folks in tank tops, flip flops (Ugh - wrong word..flip flop...er...um...sandals!) and shorts, etc. were braving hot humid weather in lines 3 to 5 hours long to honor a President. I was in D.C. in June once when it was over 90 degrees and I almost fainted.

Carl Levin sitting? Well....maybe foot surgery? Knee surgery? or ...............?

When I was in grammer school we had "bomb drills" where we had to get under our desks in case the Russians dropped the Big One.

Yep, I just guffawed when I saw that Kucinich was using "Where fear ends hope begins" as his campaign slogan. Reagan was the one who ended fear for a lot of us, and began hope again after 20 years of it being run into the ground.

And you're still classy!

Don't forget to belch the alphabet on your way out of the rotunda, flyboy.

Thank you for giving us the post about President Reagan's sweet spiritedness during his illness, texasflower. I truly believe that it authoritatively speaks of the inner uprightness of the soul of the man.

It may have been Cheney who called him a "providential" leader. In closely observing I have come to perceive that that is more true than most suspect. His unique preparation for his God ordained purpose was too perfect to have been accidental.
The fact that RR's candidacy had to be forced on the RNC, etc. etc. Only a merciful God could have provided him with all that favor to bless our Nation with a leader so upright that He could bestow bloodless victories and economic largess through him.
I see it as a graphic fulfillment of this word:
Pro 29:2 "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." That said, my heart is aching for the Texas flood victims. May Our Lord provide deliverance to Texas from this flood scourge.

That's lovely.

I agree and that also certainly applies to our current President. President Bush has not been able to accomplish his duties without bloodshed, but I believe he was appointed by God as well.

my heart is aching for the Texas flood victims

Mine does too. We lost our house in the Texas flooding of 1994. We had a two story house on a hill, that was completely submerged. The process of clean up and recovery is horrible.

My part of Texas is fine this time.
