Orientals makes more sense. The lands of eastern Eurasia are linked. the Indian continent, the Iranian plateau and south-east Asia are culturally (and to a certain extent ethnically) linked, the Middle East bar IRan and Turkey are all Semitic, Turkey and Central Asia are all Turkic peoples, Russia and Eastern Europe are Slavic while Western Europe is primarily Germanic or Franks (as the Saracens called them)
If you look at a NOn Mercator projection map of the world, Europe is reduced to it's true physical size, a peninsula sticking out of the Asian landmass.
Of course, the dominant influence of Europe on world history for the past 500 years, it's lead in the sciences and the shaping of the modern world make it correct to consider it a continent on its own.
My original response was derived from the lack of economic opportunity in the countries noted and their underrepresentation in the immigrant pool.
Most notably Belarus. Anyone arriving from there is truly escaping communism, and deserves the same status as a Cuban setting foot on dry US land.
Middle class white America has been beaten down by liberal-inflicted guilt and a blue-collar philosophy of "I'm not worth it". Asians and Indians are free of both these things so they achieve without stopping.
*** Most all immigrants are free of their host countries 'issues'. Having two immigrant parents this is very true. Not every white person (esp. white man) has had it easy in this country, not any of my Italian relations anyway.
It has little to do with your race and has everything to do with your attitude.
*** I wholeheartedly agree.
"Sure, and while we're at it, let's make the country über Aryan -- let's get whole sale immigration from IRan -- the land of the Aryans."
You totally misinterpreted the comments.
The article said:
"Asian-Americans were the next fastest growing among the large minority groups, up 12.6 percent, to 11.9 million, while the black population rose nearly 4 percent, to 37 million.
People who identified themselves only as "white" remained the single largest group, at 197 million, up just 1 percent from 2000 to 2003."
There is a huge difference in the rate of increase of Asian and Hispanic population, vs. white.
Wishing that there was a more proportional increase is NOT racist.
Wishing that the white population doesn't increase, but the other races increase at a high rate IS racist.
I hope you understand that in directing that comment to me, you're preaching to the choir.
