When I find a way to argue someone willingly in your position, sectwise, out of that position, I'll get back to you.

Nice knowing you. Of course, is it any different for you? You backed down rather than continue the argument by providing facts.

At present, I've neither the time nor the interest. (Your reply will almost surely validate my stance. I'll get ahead of the game by pre-emptively noting, "QED.")

You were the one who brought up the argument that this pagan translation was right in using the term "dip" instead of "baptize" (which is easily chalked up to the man's being a former Baptist minister). Strong's Concordance has a Greek section that notes "baptizo" means "to wash," which is how other translations have rendered it when they have gone away from the "copout"--as you put it--transliteration of 'baptize' (New Living Translation and KJV in Lk. 7:44, for example).

At the same time a pigeon flew down and perched on him.

A "pigeon"?! A "pigeon" flew down and perched on him?! What is difficult about a "dove"?! What institute of higher learning must one attend to develop the concept of a "dove" versus the concept of a "pigeon"?! Never mind the theology...we're apparently still having a problem with the "dove/pigeon" debate!!!

Archbishop of Canterbury: "The Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of All England is the senior cleric of the Church of England."
