They don't want troops returning from Iraq to face scorn they once endured.

Shunned when they returned from their tour of duty, Vietnam veterans now are the force behind a profound change in how America greets returning military veterans.

In cities and towns across America, returning Iraqi war veterans are welcomed with banners, confetti, hugs and an explosion of joy not seen since World War II.

I hope everyone who sees an armed service member will recognize and thank them for their service. They all need our support.

Not so much a change as a return to how it used to be done.

Here is the link for Viet Nam Veterans of America
http://www.vva.org

And if there is anyone especially veterans who would like to volunteer at one of the VA hospitals in their area they would certainly appreciate your help. Or if you would just like to visit some of the veterans there, I am sure the veterans would apprecitate it too. It can be very lonely being a veteran in a VA hospital with no family and no one visiting them. You can locate the nearest VA hospital by going to their website. http://www.va.gov

I can never forget how Vietnam Veterans were treated in this country. I was very young, but it was disgusting. I can't forgive the anti-war crowd of the 60's. Vietnam Vets hold a special place in my heart. I cry when I think of what they endured abroad and become enraged knowing how they were treated upon coming home. They deserved better.

Well, I, for one, have put it behind me and am doing all I can to make sure that the present and future veterans are appreciated and helped in every way possible.

Many of them are away from home for the 1st time.
PLEASE Click on the graphic and help cheer them up.
You will stay right where you are on this thread while you write them.
