A Chilling Iraqi Terror Tape (New Zarqawi video given to Time Magazine)
TIME Magazine ^ | July 4, 2004 | MICHAEL WARE

Posted on 07/04/2004 9:29:18 AM PDT by FairOpinion

Jihad leader Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian terrorist and the most wanted man in Iraq, this weekend released a telling window into his organization, Attawhid wal Jihad, or Unity and Jihad. In a slickly produced hour-long video Zarqawi lays bare the milieu of his suicide bombers, their safehouses, their rituals and their targeting guidelines. Given directly to TIME, the video is a bold, menacing statement of the group's intent and capability. The subtext of this disturbing tape is that for the U.S. this is likely to be a long, drawn out fight in Iraq against a committed, well-organized enemy.

The tape contains many chilling scenes. When the chairman of the U.S. appointed Iraqi Governing Council, Izzedine Salam, then the country's highest Iraqi official, was assassinated last month in a car bomb Zarqawi quickly claimed credit. Now he shows the act, in graphic footage shot from a parked car: A convoy of white SUVs disappears down a Baghdad street, followed a moment later by a ball of flame and explosion so intense the windscreen through which the cameraman films cracks before your eyes.

No! Really?!? And it only took them 15-16 months to come up with this conclusion?

No wonder Time is the premier news magazine of our generation. [cough]

Each episode of this grim "Best Of" the militant group's attacks over the last year is accompanied by professional-style editing, graphics and camera work. Explanations are given of each operation, the names of the suicide bombers, and the targeting justification.

I smell al-Jazeera. There is a reason why they give this propaganda to Time. They want the media and the American public to buy the message they are conveying, i.e., it is a going to be a long, costly war for America and the sooner we can get out the better.

I think a different message can be gleaned from the videotape. The terrorists know that they cannot win militarily and that time is not on their side. They need to change the political equation sooner rather than later. The only way is to undermine the political support in the US. This is the lesson they have learned from Vietnam. Time needs to do a better job of critical analysis rather than just being a conduit for this crap. Of course, they won't because they have a political agenda of their own.

Exactly.

The US liberal media are becoming just mouthpieces for the terrorists.

They made a major mistake in giving it to Time Magazine - I will never see it. It will only get the zany left crowd.

I hate to remind that we have a world-wide movement of terrorists arrayed against the US. Drug money, background financing under the table, there are many ways for them to receive support. They are not bound to nations but are able to cross unguarded borders and will do so if it suits their purpose. Thinking particular nations is a function of wars in the past. We cannot allow ourselves to be tied down with certain nations and give terrorists free rein to operate at will wherever they wish.

The notion of suicidal jihadis taping their exploits isn't new, nor is it "chilling."

It certainly doesn't prove that they're any more or any less organized or more numerous than anyone thought.

We're on the way out, the Iraqis are on the way in to defending and determining their own country and way of life. I suspect that Zarqawi and his idiot minions will soon be up against a far less PC force of arms than we can be at the moment.

"for the U.S. this is likely to be a long, drawn out fight in Iraq against a committed, well-organized enemy."

"Committed" and "well-organized", huh? And this from Time magazine.

Well just remember this:

No matter how "committed" and "well-organized" America's enemies are,
9/11 was never repeated--
because of President George W. Bush!!!

Not because the terrorists didn't try!
Not because Al-Qaida didn't want to repeat it!
Not because these satanic terrorists are uncommitted or disorganized!

The September 11, 2001, "Pearl Harbor" attack on the United States was not repeated BECAUSE OF THE EXPERT AND HEROIC LEADERSHIP OF PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH!

Whom will Zarqawi, bin Laden, Zawahiri and the other terrorists vote for??? Not George W. Bush! That's for sure!

Unfortunately, many of the ones who will write history are liberal-demokkkRATs, and they will re-write history to suit their agendas. The few books which tell the truth and get it right, will never see the light of day in our education system, also almost completely controlled by liberals and liberal-demokkkRATs.

Make no mistake about it: The Enemy Within™ is everywhere, at all levels.

Time Magazine is presenting it exactly, as the terrorists want them to.

I think the successful handover was a major defeat for the terrorists -- they couldn't stop it.

This is just more bluster -- but it's shameful and treasonous that the US media is helping the terrorists get out their propaganda.

Time is not saying a single word, to put the video and the terrorists' actions in context. Zarqawi himself probabaly wrote the article too, Time just published it, without changing a word.

Given directly to TIME...

Time Maggotzine brags about receiving something "directly" from al-Zarqawi?

My question is why oh why has Time decided to side with the terrorists? Why do I conclude this? Because this tape was delivered directly to Time...that means they have contacts and knowledge of the whereabouts of these slime balls. It is like the TV camera grews who stand by and watch as gang bangers do their dirty little deeds. I am tired of the lame stream media and their support of our enemies...DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCT...that is the only lesson they understand

I would honestly suggest that it is not implausible to believe that al-Jazeera may have been complicit in the manufacture of this tape. At least one al-Jazeera reporter (their one-time Afghan correspondent) is already under arrest for al-Qaeda membership in Spain and there have been numerous complaints by the DoD of al-Jazeera running interference for terrorists in Iraq.

Also, doesn't this latest Zarqawi video tend to back up Bush's claim that Iraq is the central front in the War on Terrorism?

Looks kind of gay to me. These clowns at Time are in awe of this barbarian. I say waste him and his minions. One day the tables will be turned on Islam and their static targets will be picked off and reduced to rubble. Mosques, mullahs, madrassas, Mecca, Medina and so forth. They want a slaughter to mull over for a few centuries, they'll get one.

The picture might well have included a copy of Time magazine in bin Laden's back pocket.

I discontinued my subscription to that propaganda rag more than 10 years ago. I told them in no uncertain terms never to send that trash to my home again. They didn't.

Yawn.

The NAZIs produced their own propaganda movies even as Allied forces were shelling Berlin itself.

In april, the terrorists managed to kill 132 good Americans.

In May, they killed 81 of us.

In June, they only managed to kill 32 of us.

So far in July they've killed 1 (one) American and released one propaganda tape.

132
81
32
1 (plus a terror tape)

Does anyone notice a trend here?!

They've just about left the battlefield, save for their propaganda blitz against our home front.

Time magazine can scream all day long about the "fearsome" terrorists, but the fatality count refutes soundly such sophomoric "logic".

They are firing mortars, driving suicide car bombs, and planting IED roadside bombs.

That's all just a longwinded way of saying that they are only managing to make "nuisance attacks" now.
