Statue of Liberty scheduled to reopen
08/02/04 08:06 PM, EDT
Barring last-minute terrorism alerts or other problems, the Statue of Liberty will reopen to visitors Tuesday for the first time since the 2001 terrorist attacks that destroyed the nearby World Trade Center.

Molotov cocktail comes to mind!
Yes, this is what I am wondering, too.
Hurricane warning for parts of the east coast now:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
We just had a test of the EAS about 10 minutes ago. A "statewide" test according to the voice. I've never heard one this late, or at an odd time. Normally they're at the top of the hour around 11:00 am.
You are expressing what I have been thinking since the Sunday announcement. The areas announced are the safest to be in now. You don't plan a major hit without secondary objectives. Plan "B" is what I would like to determine.
The best way to shake the economy would be to influence the "consumers". The destruction of buildings won't make a difference. Too many backups are in place in regards to records.
thank you, tis beautiful to me, but so is my Kini ;)

Hi thecabal. Thanks for telling us. I miss you already! I hope the week goes by quickly. :)
Thanks for posting that.
We were just talking on the phone about the threat warning.
Wondering if the computer data was old or new.
Speaking at a Republican rally, the congresswoman credits President Bush with making the country safe.
By DAVID HACKETT
NYT REGIONAL NEWSPAPERS
VENICE, Fla. U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris said Monday that the United States has literally defeated 100 (potential) terrorist attacks on this country in the past three years, some of which could have been as deadly as the 9/11 destruction of the World Trade Center.
Speaking Monday night in Venice at a rally in support of President Bush, Harris said the United States is winning the war against terrorism.
His remarkable leadership has made our country safe, Harris told an overflow crowd of more than 600 at the Holiday Inn. The event was sponsored by the Republican Club of South Sarasota County.
In an interview after the speech, Harris said she learned from classified information about the 100 potential attacks that have been thwarted since 9/11.
Actually, its been more than 100, she said. Its classified obviously not classified to me but things I cant go into detail about.
what is Ridge do?
Retire?
The Lincoln tunnel may have been a secondary. The action in DC tonight may be related to secondaries as well.
How do you influence consumers? I think that the goblin's normal suicide behavior would not be as effective as they'd like.
Maybe something to keep us from being able to consume or purchase.
" Attacks against aviation facilities and infrastructure (airport and air traffic services).
Use of cyber or other electronic attacks.....
Such as the computer systems failures yesterday here in the US for American Airlines and US Air... affected over 300 flights."
And the similar failure for Northwest airlines two weeks ago. First they said it was a power failure, then they said it was a computer problem.
You best your best everytime Pegita!
Give respite to those who serve ... refresh them anew with others who are willing to take hold of this task.
~Amen and Thank You
You just know Kini will do our Anniversary proud -g-
But intelligence officials and experts on terror also point out that Al Qaeda never carried out spectacular attacks, like the 9/11 attacks or the 1998 embassy bombings in Africa, in less than two-year intervals. Many of those attacks were in planning stages for more than four years. That has officials worried about what may now be in the planning stages.
Mossad, now that you outed yourself (somewhat), can you please answer ladyjane's question in post # 131? :)
This may sound silly but I'll say it anyways. You're talking of possible methods of communication we may be overlooking. What about carrier pigions?
Think of the DC snipers spread accross middle America, while still trying to hit NY and DC area. If it becomes risky to buy in a small town, that will spread. NY and DC are a foreign area to most of America. The terrorists can't be that dumb. Time will tell.
Batton down Soldier!
Ok, that goes on the list:
No more birthdays...
No more BARBERS...
Nite sweets, me too ;)
The price of oil will continue to be a drag on our economy. Today oil futures hit the all time high on the Mercantile. $50 a barrel doesn't sound as far fetched as it did a few months ago. All of that extra money spent on gas is diverted from other consumer goods that we could be buying to keep the economy humming. Our dependence on foreign oil is slowly bleeding our economy, which the terrorists like to see.
You are absolutely right. It sounds silly. :)
I have no idea as to how well it would work. I don't know what the effective range is, or even how they do what they do.
There'd be open season all throughout flyover country.
That's on the OTHER side of the Smokies, at least in theory. :)
If the RNC is serious about eliminating the IRS, that would carry the weight of drilling offshore FL and Alaska.
I really don't think we have the time anyway. We may have to act to take control of some wells and ports.
Big Rig Spills Chlorine Gas, Shuts Down Hwy. 1
Hazmat Clean-Up Crews On Scene Of Overturned Big Rig
POSTED: 6:12 pm PDT August 2, 2004
http://www.nbc11.com/news/3608142/detail.html
Hazardous waste removal teams are at the scene of an overturned big rig that was hauling chlorine gas near state Highway 1 south of Albion, the California Highway Patrol in Mendocino County reports.
Officer Robert Simas said no contact has been made with the driver and the Highway 1 is closed a mile away from the spill in both the north and south directions. People living within a mile radius of the accident site have been evacuated or are sheltering in place and some gas has been released into the air, Simas said.
The big rig overturned onto its roof around 11:12 a.m. The rig spilled cylinders and drums containing chlorine gas, sulfur dioxide and sodium hypochlorite, Simas said.
A command post has been established a mile from the scene on Albion Ridge Road at the intersection of Highway 1.
STEVE QUAYLE is on COASTTOCOAST with George Noory right now...
probably for the first hour....to talk about how all this info is "four years old"
I should just pass you along the code before you make the next thread, I'm going to make the August one much more comprehensive (8-10 links per day).
I think this is great news, I wish it had been re-opened sooner. I'm going to try to make it out there before Summer is over, it's a wonderful place to stand as an American.
Quyale is on coast to coast tonight.
An Army General, an Air Force General, and a Navy Admiral had a bet, and set out to prove who had the toughest people.
The Army General ordered two tanks to face each other, and open fire. BOOM! Both tanks destroyed. He said, "Tank crews are tough!".
The Air Forc General had three F16's take off, and ordered the pilots to head for each other. BOOM! All three jets destroyed. He said, "Pilots are tougher!"
The Navy Admiral laughed and said, "Watch this". He took the generals to an aircraft carrier, and grabbed the first Boatswain's Mate he found.
He said "Son, I want you to climb to the top of the tallest radar mast."
"Aye Aye, Sir!" said the sailor, and immediately raced to the top.
The Admiral shouted up, "Okay, now JUMP!"
The sailor promptly shouted back, "F*** YOU!"
The Admiral won the bet.
_____________
I'd really rather you didn't call me a soldier; I'm an old boomer sailor. :)
You are absolutely right. There would be a lot of fear. There'd be some anarchy too, especially if the response system is overloaded.
Sleep well.
OMG not again. Any word at all on the driver? Was it a scoot and squat?
Thank you LayoutGuru2.
I appreciate the update.

I've been hearing radio commercials advertising the "big money" to be made in petroleum, specifically unleaded gasoline.
They're harping about the increased demand in China and the instability in the ME.
These people are evil.

CREDIBLE INTELLIGENCE
Source: Attack to be in early September
BY KNUT ROYCE
WASHINGTON BUREAU
August 3, 2004
WASHINGTON -- More financial institutions than previously disclosed may be at risk of attack, and an al-Qaida operative has told British intelligence that the group's target date is early September, intelligence sources said yesterday.
The operative, described as "credible" by British intelligence, told his debriefers that the attack would take place "60 days before the presidential election" on Nov. 2, according to a former senior National Security Council official. On Sept. 2 President George W. Bush is expected to address the Republican National Convention at Madison Square Garden.
Counterterrorism officials are analyzing data from a computer seized in Pakistan last month to see if financial institutions in addition to the five disclosed Sunday are at risk of attack, U.S. officials said yesterday.

"to talk about how all this info is "four years old""
You mean how the NEW YORK TIMES says the information is four years old. Why should anyone believe anything they say? My local NBC station is also really pushing this NY times story right before showing a favorable poll for Kerry.
