While that is good news poll wise, I think the same sex marriage vote in Missouri is a much more solid indicator of where the election is headed.

I just want to see Bush with at least a 5% lead. All these polls show a tight race. I want a blow out.

I think it will be a blowout regardless of what the polls say.

My husband has been saying right along that he believes polls are meaningless in this election.
He believes there's a difference between what people tell a pollster and what they'll actually do in the voting booth.
I was doubting his "theory", but after that Missouri vote, which polled in the 55-60 range, but garnered 72%, I think he may be on to something.

Pollsters usually do the bidding of whoever pays them. Since it's media that commission most polls, the pollsters bend the results toward what their bosses want: a close race (until Election Day) with the Dem slightly in the lead.

Marist is a known left leaning polling operation.

Add the fact that a HUGE majority of people aren't taking part in these polls to begin with. I don't take part in phone polls, I hang up.

I'm allways reminded of what Bernard Goldberg said about Richard Nixons election. None of his media friends believed that Nxon could possibly win because they didn't know anyone who was voting for him. He won 49 states that year.
