The GOP knows that some Wisconsin voters are willing to vote Libertarian. Does that justify using Democrat-style tactics?

That is, if you assume we're all for the same things, and from your list, open borders is the only important issue.

Personally, I'm for clamping the borders, and no more goodies for those who squeeze through. So, that issue's off.

Porn, as long as kids don't get their hands on it or - more importantly - aren't IN it... that's all that matters.

Prostitution is a government concern... how? Why?

Drugs... I'm not for legalizing anything but marijuana, for adults, and it should be up to the states. Wanna clamp down on meth labs? Be my guest, you'll get no argument from me. Stop heroin and coke sales? I'm on board with that.

So, let's recap: Because I'm not in favor of strict, iron-fisted regulation of sex, drugs, and nekkid ladies, you've consigned me to the heap. Fine. Be petulant and stamp your feet. Hold your breath and turn blue. Pitch a fit because some of us don't want to fit into your mold.

Apparently, it's all about conformity. Liberals like that, too.

Then Ed shouldn't have run in the first place?

That's still no reason for the GOP's bogus complaints. You don't file election complaints unless they're valid; otherwise, it's dirty pool the way liberals play it.

If I want to live in a socialist state now, I'll vote for Dems. If I want to live in a socialist state later, I'd vote Republican. Since I want neither outcome, I'm staying put.

A bit long for a tag line...

Northern California, Contra Costa County, I don't know what district it goes by. Ellen Tauscher (waste of skin be she...) ran unopposed by a republican in the last race.

The "Libertarian" candidate actually took ~28%. They could have mopped with a good campaign and a real Libertarian...

It was an afterthought, but I like the way you tidied it up for a tagline...

Be careful, though, there's a couple of rabid anti-libertarians lurking around here. One of them unleashed a decidedly un-Christian stream of invective at me, and unwarranted ones at that.

It hasn't gotten THAT silly... yet. Thank God.

Ahhh... You have not encountered the "derived from" rule or some of the other environmental regs... Under the derived from rule you can still be required to treat water that meets drinking water standards as hazardous waste based on it's source and method of aquiring the contaminant in it.

Same thing happend in Taxachussetts. Kerry ran against Michael Cloud, the LP candidate. The Reps didn't field a challenger.

Bascially, in both cases, the non-liberal voters turned to the LP candidate instead of the Dem. Maybe that 28% vote in California was the best anyone could've done. They are pretty liberal out there...

No kidding.

(You should have heard the invective one heaped on me after he read my profile way back when)...

BTW, congratulations on your attack. You must be getting some real traction to rate it...

That's just it... I didn't fire the first shot. From out of nowhere, this V-thang hurls poo for no other reason than, I figure, than the fact that I don't conform to his tough, unmeetable standards of human existence.

You should hear some of the things liberals have said to me, though... makes this stuff sound tame.

I heard Paul Harvey talking one time, about a town in Alaska that had to build a wastewater treatment plant... even though the water source was cleaner than environmental regs.

Indeed, we cannot live without the finite wisdom of Big Daddy Government. Hey, no running with that pointy stick! If you run with pointy sticks, you'll put your eye out, and the terrorists will win.

From what I know, Tauscher (Pox and boils be upon her) was a first in this district for a while, it was always Republican.

If it was Repub for a while, then this creature gets in, that means the voting base must've slid left. Fair assessment for an off-the-cuff thought?

Don't feel bad.

He really can't help it. For him, the fear and loathing of someone else having any degree of personal freedom provokes a visceral knee jerk obsessive compulsive reaction.

I think there might be an element of Tourettes syndrome, too.

Just one layman's opinion...

Did you know that Ronald Reagan called libertarianism the heart and soul of conservatism?

You're not a fan of Reagan? I'm not surprised.

I don't think it's as much a slid to the left deal as it's "died from lack of caring or initiative". Republicans in the bay area are mostly idiots (present company excepted) who are to scared of "offending someone". Hell, if you're going to lose anyway, you might as well piss everybody off, that way they'll remember it when the 'Rats have thoughroughly f'ed everything up, and switch.

To give you an idea of how stupid in general bay areans are, they keep passing these stinking assesments, sales tax hikes and bridge toll raises to "pay for infrastructure and bridge replacements" that never get done or overrun and the people just keep eating it up. They've just noted the Bay Bridge reconstruction is going to blow out it's budget and that bridge tolls are going to have to be raised to $5.00. They should have put a line in the last increases (went to $3.00 in the beginning of the summer)that states "public officials who suggest further raises will suffer the death penalty"...

We have a new one to add a property tax assesment for "open spaces and parks and clean water and bla...bla...bla..." again in my county, and I'm betting the fools will lap that one up.

If you title legislation "Bill to prevent sleepless nights of little children and to limit scary under the bed monsters from runneling their fingers through their intestines" you could put riders out the wazoo in it rescinding the constitution, banning guns, mandating lifetime residency in one spot, etc... and I guarantee you I'd would at least be a close vote...

"The guy you're conversing with is one of the three top gun-grabbing socialists on FR."

LOL! Your self respect level has got to be at zero. Perhaps you can provide us all with a VaB Quote that remotely adheres to what you're claiming.

You're sad Bro.

Ronald Reagan:
"Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals."
