The National Weather Service has just issued a Tornado Watch for most of south Florida until at least 8:00 Friday morning.

Hurricane City is streaming live coverage at http://hurricanecity.com/live.ram -- their coverage includes reports from The Weather Channel, from observers on the ground, plus streamed reports from local Miami television stations.

I haven't been keeping up with this. I don't suppose anyone has made a prayer list, have they? If not, can someone give me some names of who's in the path of this thing? I'm about to go to bed.

Falling branches worries me, terribly. I'm out here in Apopka in the middle of woods. Huge old twisted oaktrees all around.

Well, not even the UKMET is helping us out this morning. Last night it looked better than the rest.

You can start with us, LOL!

NautiNurse is probably evacuated, MinuteGal lives just north of me, there are plenty of others posting on this thread...

The thread is full of those in the path. I'm afraid to name names, as I might leave somebody out and wouldn't want to be guilty of that. You could for Central Florida in general, and specifically the West Coast, around Tampa Bay area!

Thanks! Best of luck to you all. I've had enough experience with those things to know you have to take them seriously!

Oh, one more thing... Here's a webpage that has a lot of good weather maps all in one spot. http://www.ih2000.net/ira/bmt-wth.htm

Now they say St. Pete will have 100 mph winds sustained. 150 mph gusts! Lake/Sumter 110 mph sustained. Orlando remains at 74 (tropical storm force winds)

The house is boarded (only one on the block). Haven't left yet. Finally! got some help carrying the 75lb color laser printer upstairs 15 minutes ago.

All of my neighborhood is evacuating, and we are all still here at 7:00am. Very neighborly on the cul de sac this morning. We all have multiple animals, and finding kindly shelter that accepts lots of critters isn't easy.

The bow of the boat is tied to the neighbor's dock, and vice versa.

Took a long, hot soaking bath this morning--it may be the last for awhile. Prayers requested.

Last I heard Wednesday, MinuteGal was driving 1500 miles back home.

add northern Manatee Co. to the Tampa Bay area. The Manatee River empties into the mouth of the Tampa Bay.

My father is on the outermost island in the Tierra Verde Keys. He's right on the water with no protection at all. He has been evacuated and is waiting for the storm surge to destroy everything on the lower floor. I feel so horrible for him.

At this point all we can do is pray.

I'm leaving for the drive to Florida early tomorrow morning. A Freeper who lives in Pasco county freepmailed me last night that all subdivisions and homes west of US 19 are under mandatory evacuation. This includes my house.

Actually, I'm not going to kill myself on the drive from the north. Nothing I can do to change nature. My nextdoor neighbors are also on the road from the northeast where they were vacationing.

Not looking forward to drivng up to my house when I get there. Hope it still IS there.

Heartfelt thanks to all from my area who are updating on this thread. Freepers are the salt of the earth.

Best wishes to you, my friend. The main reason it is taking me so long to evacuate is because it is so blasted hard to triage the possessions and all of the memories. Beyond that, moving things upstairs doesn't mean it will be spared. Of course, you know the drill. Just hauled the pressure washer upstairs from the garage. Ouch!

Safe travels, and glad to know you didn't rush to get here so you would have to leave again.

One of my good friends just sold her waterfront home on Tierra Verdi. She was at the end of a finger, right across from Shell Island.

She only moved a couple of blocks up the street, but at least she's not on the water. I called her yesterday and she didn't think she'd evacuate, but I think they're making folks leave the area.

Hope your dad's property doesn't sustain too much damage.

My teenager and his cousins are headed over to my folks right now (they only live about a mile from us). But they have a lovely screened in room and my dad doesn't think it'll last in the wind, so they need to move all the patio furniture inside and the kids are going over to do that.

My mother is there and excited about going through her first Hurricane.

Well, looks like she'll get her wish! I bet Ocala will see the brunt of it. I'm about 20 miles north of Orlando.

What's the speed and direction of that trough? Any good links for stuff like that?

Your folks got cell phones yet?
