Poor showing for Kerry supporters. Lots of empty space in main area. And they advertized free tickets in all sorts of places including a local Beauty Parlor.
Good show for Bush supporters. They had to bring up a big sign to hide the Bush supporters from the TV cameras. They did that right after the Bush supporters all started chanting "Flip Flop" and waving their arms. I am very encouraged.

Thank you for going there and telling us what went on. We couldn't tell by the tv cameras how many people were there.

Tell all!
When did this "rally" first come to light?
Were they union people?
Did you think Kerry was slurring his words?
How many people?

I watched it, until everyone buy CSPAN 2 bailed on it. He started with about 5 minutes of new stuff and then lapsed into his standard stump speech.

Hey, this was supposed to be the beginning of Kerry's
Tet Offensive against Bush.
What went wrong?
Coverage of this in the Pravda Press should be fun.

Could you tell if he was drunk. We've had quite a debate here about that. Also, did he mention he was in Vietnam?

I heard some yelling in the background and saw Kerry react momentarily, as if he was desperately trying to stay on his little white card notes, like he'd been jabbed...and then quickly bash Bush, turn a card over and go onto another point. The shouts were unnerving him and his tiny band of supporters. Kerry paced back and forth, babbbling, like he was on the Titanic. Edwards stood behind him. You could see his face flash by every once in a while as Kerry raced around. Edwards wore a look of helplessness. Or do I mean hopeless.

Did not have much time to plan ahead and we had plans already to go to a Party for George tonight. Poor planning on the part of the Kerry folks. All the folks who went to Bush parties were really psyched after the Convention and were ready to wave our Bush signs proudly.
To: mlbford2
I'm thinking he "sparked a bowl" before the speech and had the driver stop at Jack in the Box on the way to the hotel for tacos to satisfy the munchies.

You are right. There was no enthusiasm. It sounded like Kerry was speaking in slow motion. You know the old 45 record at 33. Even the Kerry supporters got bored and stood talking among themselves.

Road to Nowhere
(Parody of Talking Heads "Road to Nowhere")
by Kevin L. Kitchens
The campaign's all but over, but you don't know what went wrong.
Your candidate is a loser, why'd you'd keep him for so long?
Cause you're blind to the real truth, don't confuse you with the facts.
Liberalism is dying, and it won't get back on track.
Yeah!
You're on the road to nowhere, Kerry's your guide.
You'll take the ride to nowhere, Teddy can drive.
Hillary's mad this morning, and so what's new?
You had a goal to socialize, and you failed, and you failed.
You're plummeting into nowhere, John's plans are dead.
Freefalling into nowhere, watch the road Ted!
Maybe '08 can save you, Hillary's turn.
If the public would only shut their eyes, believe your lies, believe your lies.
You're on the road to nowhere!
You're on the road to nowhere!
You're on the road to nowhere!
There's a line, it's very fine, your decency drops all the time, but it's alright, Hillary it's alright.
The White House is far away, it's getting farther day by day, but it's alright, Hillary it's alright.
Well we're sure you've got a plot, like your heart it's full of rot, but it's alright, Hillary it's alright.
Well we know just what you'll do, America you'll try to screw, but it's alright, Hillary it's alright.
You're on the road to nowhere!
You're on the road to nowhere!
You're on the road to nowhere!
You're on the road to nowhere!

They keep repeating about his service in Vietnam and he got a shrapnel in his rear end until everybody in the world knows about John Kerry.
To: Merry
Really poor turn out. That parking lot was only 2/3 full - and that included some curious Bush supporters. I suspected that they were getting a poor showing when they advertised ticket locations up to the last minute. We got there after Kerry started talking. Found an easy parking spot within sight of the podium. Stood on a railroad track and could see Kerry and Edwards. Traffic jam afterwards was quickly dispersed. In fact I've been to movies with slower traffic dispersal.
To: Big Guy and Rusty 99
Are you kidding, a man like that is too modest to mention it. Ya know he was wounded too. Guys got three purple hearts. No one would ever know it but he's still got shrapnel in his buttocks.

Didn't care to get that close. Hung out with the Bush folks on the fringe. Good company. There was this group of Pro-Life ladies that stood their ground when the Kerry supporters would give them a hard time. I really admired them.

Because Edwards will soon be at the top of the ticket when Kerry is forced to withdraw in shame.
The big question is who will be his VP, Clinton?

Yes many were bussed. And there was a strong union presence. We avoided them. The rest were mostly teens and young adults - 20's. Quite a few were drunk. And of course the party faithful.

Kerry rambled on and on. It was very boring and basically he just said he disagreed with everything Bush said. And he tried to say a few cute rhyming phrases but they went flat. I kept expecting him to say "I know you are but what am I ?"
