Ohio Muslims, Arabs growing anxious in post - 9/11 U.S.

Ziad Akir, who heads the Athens Islamic Center at 13 Stewart St., doesn't have "solid evidence" the center is being watched. But no one at the center knows who owns the black SUV that frequently has been seen parked in their lot.

"(One member) claims that there is strange equipment on the car with flashing indicators. I don't know for sure, but it may be a possibility," said Akir speculating on whether someone may be spying on the center.

Some may scoff at Akir's claim as a bout of paranoia during trying times for Arab Americans and those whose faith is Islam. Think again, advises another prominent Ohio Muslim, who contends he has heard of similiar complaints from nearly every mosque in the state.

"We hear of mosques being spied on, being watched, quite frequently," said Jad Humeidan, director of CAIR Ohio. CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) is considered one of Muslim America's most influential non-profits.

He said that the identity of whoever is conducting the surveillance remains a mystery. And if the mystery is nothing more than a perceived -- as opposed to real -- threat, it appears justified for Arab Americans during the post-9/11 era of fear.

The Mecca Crater may wind up like an Agatha Christie mystery. Many suspects with motives.

Good. Hope this is true. If it's not, it should be.

I will not call for death camps in the United States. I will, however, call for extreme action such as never before advanced in our society.

For the security of our towns and cities, we must put Islamofascists within our borders on notice that they are and will be watched. Their every movement must be monitored. They must not be allowed positions of authority or power (i.e., police and military) or political influence. If they have nothing to hide, they should not object to ordinary citizens dropping in on Friday nights to hear the latest sermon. Follow them. Park in their driveways. Stand in their doorways. Learn their language/s so their messages can be intercepted and the secrecy stripped away.

Every last illegal Muslim in this country should be jailed and/or expelled. NOW.

I am sick to death of hearing how poor, misunderstood Muslims are so racked with fear. Stop with the sappy-crappy TV plotlines intended to tug at our heartstrings and make us oh-so-understanding ("Seventh Heaven"--faugh!!!). And the next person who utters "Religion of peace" to me is going to bear the consequences.

So Muslims in America want to live here unmolested. Isn't that just special. Their burden is to prove why we should allow that. It is they who have created the atmosphere of paranoia. To paraphrase Braveheart, "Let them stop at the home of every person afflicted by 9/11 and beg for mercy." Then let them loudly and as one rise up and forever expose the terrorists in their midst whom they protect and arm against us. Then let them weep openly for the havoc and decimation they have caused and continue to cause throughout the civilized world, making a start towards restitution for every widow and orphan they have needlessly created.

That might be a start.

Well said!

They tortured, then murdered hundreds of Russian children and infants. It is time - long past time - to cure this cancer by removing the tumors.

Sounds as if the is-slimers are trying to shout you down.

They can't stand the possibility that the West may awaken to their murderous intent - and act.

It's way past time to bid farewell to political correctness and put truth back in charge.

I've lived on the shore of Lake Erie for 40 years and look out on the Islands (both US and Canadian). Smallcraft ply these waters all summer long and just about any beach is easily accessible. Realistically, some borders just can't be protected.

They're just paranoid. They should be worried if they see a black helicopter.

LOL, how utterly non PC of you. I agree, however, someone needs to find that parking lot.

Thank God I never had to be PC in the Marine Corps. In fact being PC in the Corps isn't a good idea :)

hehe too bad I don't own a pig. I'd let him out and let him run free in the parking lot.

I agree with you that I don't support death camps! In reading through the thread IMHO, we just want our Government to have the authority to protect us, and the right to protect ourselves from these killers.

However, we have an enemy that exists, needs to be watched by not only our government but by every American to defend our Country.

I do agree, however, that if an American is found guilty of being a terrorist he/she deserved the death penalty. But then that's an entirely difference subject.

One last thing, we need to absolutely have the Patriot Act extended. The ACLU TV ads they are running her in Missouri are very frightening. If a house is harboring terrorists they have every right to whack down the door and take the scum in for questioning.

I apologize if my rant came across as supporting death camps.

Imam Fawez Dawra, who heads the largest mosque in Ohio, just got convicted on several federal counts of supporting terrorism.
9/11 has nothing to do wit their worry - more like cover when their precious Imam starts singing like a canary on the other mosques in our state.

You are obviously laboring under the mistaken impression that Islamics have something similar to "free will" and "personal responsibility" in their society.
You would be wrong.
Islam is a primitive, brutish cult that glorifies subjugation to evil, and can only thrive through forced rote ignorance combined with a rather primitive method of promoting semi-intelligent dissenters to a "warrior" class of followers.

I wasn't too PC when I was in the Air Force either, but I retired 17 years ago, so I don't know what it is like today. I am still one of the very most politically incorrect people I know.
