Wow! The pig sh*! is getting deep. Harkin has been cracking up for some time now. I wait with bated breath the Limbaugh take on it all.
What goes around...etc.
Can somebody refresh my memory? I saw Harkin out this past week on several talking heads shows. Was it this story he was yammering about? Are pieces beginning to fall in place?
Mr. Ashcroft please prosecute this turd.
I understand that the investigation of the CBS forgeries has been turned over to the same crack team of investigators working on the Berger document thefts and the memos of the dem members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. This task force is headed by a director appointed by President Clinton and Attorney General Reno. It expects to issue a comprehensive, detailed report - never!
That would explain a whole lot.
From spectator.org:
REPORTERS ARE ALSO LOOKING at staff and associates of Sen. Tom Harkin, who enthusiastically held a press conference on Thursday morning using the forged documents as the tent pole for attacks against President Bush. Harkin called Bush a "liar."
"Harkin has been pushing this story for a while," says the CBS producer. "Not this specific story, but the 'Bush is a liar about his record' story. His people seemed particularly interested in making sure they could keep their boss up to date on what was going on."
As a former Iowan, I can tell you that you are correct about farmers. Most are good people with conservative family values, trouble is, the "aged" population has always been Democrat and change is hard for them. That's why lunatics like Harkin continue to be re-elected. Sooner or later, this "liberal kookism" is going to come back to bite them. Iowans are proud, patriotic people who want to have faith in their president.
I found this late last night:
The Raw Story 9/12/2004
Source for CBS memos disgruntled officer; Kerry camp readies attack team
Filed under: General site admin @ 8:54 pm
A principal source for the CBS story about President Bushs National Guard duty was Bill Burkett, a disgruntled former Guard officer, who says he was present at Guard headquarters in Austin in 1997 when a top aide to then Governor Bush ordered records sanitized to protect himself, Newsweek will report Monday. Typed memos from the early 70s suggesting officers were pressured to give Bush special treatment and sugarcoat increasingly negative evaluations were a central part of the CBS 60 Minutes report.
Meanwhile, Sen. John Kerry is preparing to attack President Bushs failure to complete his term of service in the National Guard, as well as a new relevation that Bush once lied about having served in the Air Force (story on Raw Story front page).
Other Guard officials disputed Burketts account and the Bush aide involved, Joe Allbaugh, called it absolute garbage. Burkett may have a motive to make trouble for the powers that be. In 1998, he grew gravely ill on a Guard mission to Panama, causing him to be hospitalized, and he suffered two nervous breakdowns. He unsuccessfully sued for medical expenses.
Still, in theory, Burkett may have had access to any Guard records that, in a friends words, didnt make it to the shredder, report Chief Political Correspondent Howard Fineman and Investigative Correspondent Michael Isikoff. Fellow officers say Burkett wasnt a crank, but rather a stickler for proper procedure-a classic whistle-blower type. Burkett was impressive enough to cause CBS producer Mary Mapes to fly to Texas to interview him. There are only a couple of guys I would trust to be as perfectly honest and upfront as Bill, said Dennis Adams, a former Guard colleague. The White House, through Communications Director Dan Bartlett, called Burkett a discredited source.
Newsweek also reports that a hard-core group within the John Kerry campaign is setting up a new oppo squad aimed at countering what they perceive as Republican-backed smears against Kerry. Tentatively called Sealords II-Kerrys Mekong Delta mission in Vietnam was known as Sealords the group has a $1 million budget and will be housed at the Democratic National Committee, where, one of its members says, the mission will be message, debate prep, attack, attack.

OETR. The 18 AUG 73 memo mentions Bush's OETR. It should be OER (officer efficiency report). IMO, "OETR" is the smoking gun. Prior to Heldt's "discovery", had "OETR" ever been used in regard to Bush's military service or any other service member from that period?
I've seen worse, but it does look like a little paint was needed, a few years before the picture was taken.
Let's not put down the pig farmers. I certainly like a good pork chop, sausage, bacon and so forth. Besides, they may end of being out last line of defense against the Jihadies. They produce a "by product" which we might end up putting on mass transit, aircraft, in movie theaters, malls and skyscrappers to help ward off the Islamkazies. Another by by product could be used as a "deterent" after we catch one jihadie, in order to discourage the rest.
And if you think bull$h*t stinks you should take a whiff of pig doo doo. You'd be asking for more bull.
bump
I'll cover my bets and say say "both."
"Let's not put down the pig farmers."
You are absolutely correct. We should have announced years ago that we were lubing our bullets with pig grease.
We need a squadron of fuel tanker planes loaded with pig blood and offal to drop on their "holy shrines" right before we turn them into holy piles of rubble.
If only I were running this war......
That WOULD be politically correct.
Right on.
I was thinking that we could develope a profile of the forger.
The forger obviously never used a typewriter, so that may indicate someone 30 or younger.
There are things the forger got RIGHT, like the address of the 111th FIS. The forger may have learned this from the other TANG docs available on the net.
Then there's the things he/she got WRONG, like General Staudt being retired 18 months before the Aug 73 memo, the formatting of the memos, etc.
By adding all these things up and comparing them to the likely suspects being mentioned elsewhere, we could eliminate or pursue them as suspects
