CBS is covering for the DNC and has no other option than to bluff their way through. If they don't, it will mean the immediate end of Rather's job and the total destruction of the DNC.

They insist on standing by the "throughness" of their story, which was corroborated with "unimpeachable" sources, yet they are reticent to disclose who these sources are.

This is just silly rhetoric which some PR person throws out there in order to distract from the wagons circling inside the newsroom while somebody figures out what to do next.

I thought about this a little bit today. What if CBS just remains obstinate on the point? What if it has no care about the accuracy? What if they NEVER admit the documents are forgeries? What if they take whatever financial hit (which I think is negligible)?

Do we enter an era of openly partisan television media? Does the FCC enter the building, guns drawn, and forbit CBS from broadcasting news (after a court order to stop is ignored)?

I think this incident is meant to incite certain emotions, to inflame the public. Oh well, Bring it ON!!!!
