Blogger Who Faulted CBS Documents Is Conservative Activist (L.A Times RATS out Buckhead!)
L.A Times ^

WASHINGTON — It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service — a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.

But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Times has found.

I'm with AHerald, it must be a total biyatch to be under bare-bulbed scrutiny, just because your post tossed the pebble that caused the landslide.

I just want to say, that you should be very proud of your instrumental (and initial) part in uncovering this subversion to our electoral process.

Jeez, next thing you know we'll find out he's not voting for Kerry...

Could be trouble here.

RED ALERT!

I have no technical background in computers but saw Buckhead's post #47 come on-line and instantly understood he was right. Hence, CBS surely had to have known these were bogus documents but ran them anyway. How much time and effort did the Slimes put into hacking FR, and why??

Interesting that the MSM is already getting back to water-boy duty for the DNC and, in the bargain, trying to nose around and cow us Freepers. Here's a big bad MOO for Buckhead!

By the way, has the Slimes mentioned that Barnes is a big-time Kerry bagman and all the rest? Nope? Didn't think so.

"How did they get Buckhead's name?"

I suspect Joe Wilson or his CIA undercover wife Valerie Plame. What's the chance we'll see them frog-marched off to jail?

In a related story it appears that the conservative activist had accessed a highly right wing radical republican website also frequented by one of the "authors" of the so-called "book", Unfit for Command"

"...a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles."

LOL. I suppose it does take a highly trained technical mind to recognize a Word document vs a military document pecked out on an old typewriter, or at least a sharp eye.

Congratulations Buckhead! Great job!!

You are a hero to us all!!

Wonder if Rather is still stonewalling on this? Going down for the count.

Sorry, must must have missed the FReepmail... ; )

You have now qualified as an official member of the VRWC. Your secret decoder ring is in the mail (don't worry, we have your address, we know EVERYTHING...) The frequency is set to 19.44MHz and the password this week is "plunder". Your official VRWC kit comes with your own beeber (be careful, they can become "stuned" vey, vey easily, and they are hugh.) As a special bonus, you will receive enough cheese to appease a moose for a full year. The moose will help keep the Clymers away. If you require further information, it can be found hidden within any AYBABTU or "Hatt Baby" thread.

WELCOME MY BRUTHA!

I wish these organizations would apply the same unlimited time and resources that they used in identifying Buckhead to investigating CBS.

Anyway - If I ever needed a lawyer, I'd want Buckhead!

This really angers me. They act as if there's something sinister in realizing something was hinky about the documents so quickly. As soon as I saw the docs, and looked at the font type, I knew something was up as well.

Anyhow, they act like there's something sinister in an activist Republican posting here. Duh, it's a conservative website! And the question should not be "how did Buckhead figure this out," the question should be "how did Dan Rather think he could get away with these forged documents."

What a shocker! I thought Buckhead was an ultra-liberal Kerry supporter.

"What the hell!?! I registered here at Freerepublic almost two weeks ago and I haven’t got one single call from Carl Rove or anybody at the right wing conspiracy headquarters. I am really starting to feel left out… are ya’ll sure ya’ll wrote my number down right???"

Did you remember to register with the VWRC headquarters? Once you do, you will get the decoder ring, learn the secret handshake and only then will you be contacted...

So the LA Slimes wanted the man to be an independent or perhaps a RAT?? The Slimes are so far left they are sinking fast into the La Brea Tar Pits, where they belong with all other extinct fossils.
