On his cell phone.
How many people do you think have Max Cleland's cell phone number?
I agree, he's making an effort to make it SOUND like it was run-of-the-mill, but it doesn't old up as commonplace under scrutiny.
I'm with others in being curious if Burkett appears in any photos of the Cleland Crawford errand.

True enough, he just made is sound like "Yeah, I think I talked to the guy, nothing special, happens all the time". Max can't outright lie about cause he knows others can find out through his cell phone bills .. but he can brush it off and act like it's no big deal .. for the time being

So who would give " a Texan named Burkett" Cleland's cell phone number? Another interesting question.
Evidently Burkett's information was enticing enough to have Cleland refer him to the Kerry Kampaign people and not just blow him off.
Burkett has some interesting connections: Moore, Cleland, Kerry Kampaign...who brought it to Rather/Mapes?
To: Paul Atreides
They used to say that Texas was LBJ's Country, but now Texas is BUSH's Country. Rather is from Texas. He hates President 41, George H.W. Bush.

This was a planned character assassination from the get-go.

Sure seems that way. Burkett can't really be patsy or fall guy. That doesn't explain Rather and CBS. There is no way they could have been conned on this. I don't buy the argument that they so wanted the memos to be real they let it blind them. Too much information that would discredit the memos was readily available to CBS.

There should be a monument somewhere with a big shoe with a hole shot through it - lined up so that you can see the American Flag waving when you look through.

I like it.

Just saw Trippi a few minutes ago (CA time). I agree with you, something is going on behind the scenes, you enumerated many of the possibilities and I would add the articles from NY Times and WaPo!
Investigations are probably going on at more places than CBS. Perhaps attorneys are working overtime at the DNC? Forgery and conspiracy charges are no laughing matter.
To: Dolphy
The plot thickens...We have to put this all together and get it out there

My position has been that those at CBS (obviously more than just Rather) are willing collaborators.

You are amazing!
The web is widening and becoming more sticky. Saw James Moore on one of the shows last night and he was adamant about not receiving paperwork from Burkett. Now we are seeing why!

Thank you.
Joseph C. Wilson! You know I follow HIS saga with keen interest. Just an aside as his name popped out at me from that hightlighted list. I went to the link and skimmed the article. Good find.
Boy, these documents were just "made to order". Literally.

Rather's daughter?

I can't believe there aren't adequate degrees of separation. Even lying scumbags will try to protect their loved ones. Not that Rather is a lying scumbag or anything.
