9/14 is the day before tax day!! The story has been floating around here since yesterday, I think. Someone linked to a blogger who found it. I don't know if any media outlet has picked up on it.

>This becomes CYA time; people at CBS will start leaking like the titanic to ensure that they aren't stuck to this tar baby.

Twue! Twue!

Fox friend just called. (S)he (hiding ID) was called by friend at CBS minutes ago with "How big do you think this is going to play?" question.

Order CBS 144 reams of extra high grade Xerox paper. (They want the resumes on good paper, don't they?)

It is time for the Justice Department to get involved in this. We have a conspiracy that involves the use of forged federal documents in an attempt to overthrow a sitting President.

Watergate will look small time in comparison

"First I picked Edwards BUT now I pick Hanoi Jane!"

Edwards played football in 1971 when he turned 18
instead of serving in Vietnam.
Hanoi Jane at least was a Viet Cong!
Just like me!

Hanoi Jane and I know how to demoralize US Troops serving today!

We hate US Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We hate all US Troops!

We lie about them in 2004 the same as we did in the 60's and 70's!

We vow to protect the UN and the Oil for Food Scandal

We vow to keep secret the ties between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaida

We vow to free Saddam Hussein with help from our old friend Ramsey Clark.

"The American people already know that strings were pulled to get President Bush into the Guard; and while in the Guard he missed months of service and was grounded. ... But what we still don't know is why Bush didn't fulfill his duty to his country or why he has continued to lie to the American people about it,"

This is all they have! Of course, after Kerry's speech today, they're going to TRY to gain Iraq. What the hell is "the plan"? Sounds to me like all they can do is what Bush has been doing all along, BUT the more Kerry continues to undermine the troops in every word he utters, the more he makes an ass of himself. He said in his speech he was "stunned" at the bravery of our troops. I thought to myself: "Yeah, YOU would be!" The bravery and strength and dedication of the U.S. men and women who serve our country doesn't suprise ME one bit! It's Kerry who is amazed. Duuuuuhhhhhhhh.

I wonder if the SEC and the FBI are going to look into this transaction..

Go to Yahoo! Finance

This was a registered Rule 144 transaction. It is not likely there were any shenanigans - especially since it was only $11,952,500 (341,500 shares). The $5,207,875 was the cost of exercising the options - the amount Redstone PAID to exercise the options to buy the stock he sold.

Now if he had sold 11,952,500 SHARES throught shell corporations on the open market, that would be a different story.

Feel free to credit it; it's public info (Yahoo's finance details for VIAb insider trade.) If Sumner was informed as to the nature of the next day's interviews, as well as info such as the call to the DNC...

Well, I'm sure that others will have thier legal opinions on it. If nothing else, it'll be an interesting thing to go hmmm... about.

Boy, the minute the Clintonistas got into the mix, it all got unravelled

Now to take this one step further...could this, dare I even type the words...could this even go as far as to reach the Clintons themselves? Directives from Bill while in the hospital? Hillary while she plays, badly I might add, the dutiful wife? Could their heads roll for this too? Oh to dream.

Lockhart said he phoned Burkett at the number provided by CBS. Lockhart also said that the documents never came up in his conversation with Burkett. Lockhart said the conversation lasted just a few minutes. "It's possible that the producer said they had documents" before his conversation with Burkett, he said.

TRANSLATION: "The producer definitely told me they had documents."

At the end of the conversation, Lockhart said he thanked Burkett for his interest, and there was no further contact with him. Asked why he called Burkett, Lockhart said he talks to "a lot of people." "I called you, didn't I?"

I think we should all call Joe Lockhart tomorrow and see if he indeed talks to a lot of people.

This is so ridiculous, it's incredible!

Only $11MM

I agree with you that wealth among a few Dems AND Repubs has grown so large that it is dangerous - but to S. Redstone $11MM is just a periodic diversification transaction. He has $1.8 BILLION dollars and an army of lawyers - not a significant ransaction, nor a cause for attention.

In the last 25 years we in the West (including our 401k, we means all of us) have accumulated $10 TRILLION dollars of personal wealth.

That is why Bush wants an ownership society. If we own it we care about it.

This IS the smoking gun.

I believe you are right. This is SO egregious that the FEC and every other appropriate Government agency should be chomping at the bit to crush CBS, the dims, et. al.

That the DNC then took this info and coordinated it ad campaign to fit the "news" is beyond the pale. The near simultaneous airing of the original 60mins and the DNC ad "Fortunate Son" was nothing less than an attempt to harm a sitting President during a time of war.

Nothing before this could have cost Rather his job.

This could, easilly.

While I feel that Dan Blather should have been fired over the forgeries and obvious collusion with the DNC/Kerry campaign, I seriously doubt it will happen no matter what is disclosed.

Blather was fighting the good fight in the view of the Leftists. This is easily seen in the articles written where the claim is still made that the facts were correct even though the memos were forged. The message is more important than the truth to the Left. Therefore, Blather did nothing wrong really so there is no reason to fire him.

ABCNews [sic] has a THREE PAGE article on its website trying to slam the Swifties; there's another one saying that "Bush and Kerry" partisans are fighting it out in the media. IOW, ABC is just as dirty as CBS, and merely taking advantage of CBS' stupidity to increase market share.
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent

I can't seem to find it; perhaps someone else can -- when was the last time Redstone excercised his options? The shares were worth over $40 earlier this year, and it's dipped below $35 earlier this year as well. I'm sure that there are other transactions that would make this a 'nothing' event, I'd just like to see them.
