There were two letters to the editor in our local paper today complaining that over 100 Kerry Edwards yard signs had been stolen in one night.
I certainly do not condone stealing anyone's yard sign.
My Bush yard signs were stolen in the 2000 election, but I did not whine and cry to the newspaper. I just got another one.
BTW, I have supplied my neighbors with Bush rally signs and all three houses on my short block have Bush signs in the windows.

Hi All-

"...'STOLEN MAGNET AND KEYED PAINT'..."
The idea is to remove the magnetic sign and place it in the trunk when you reach your destination...
The number of Kerry supporters willing to stalk you on your drive to work or the train station is probably minimal. They're all full of piss n' vinegar and froth at the mouth...but when it comes to actually voting, those smelly hippies just stay home on the couch and smoke dope.
Back to the topic at hand, if parked in an open lot, a vehicle with Bush/Cheney stickers is MUCH more likely to be damaged by leftists. They have low-level jobs with considerably much less to lose.
As a corollary, ever notice how the car festooned with liberal stickers is typically a brown 1984 Chevy Citation hatchback with a primer-gray fender and navy blue hood? One of the wheels is usually a doughnut spare. Just my observation.

I have a W oval on the opposite side of my 2A oval (which I was given by Travis McGee with his wonderful book). No one's keyed it yet.

You never see a liberal's car with the U.S. flag on it. Nor do they carry one in their "protests". I think it is because deep down they hate our country.

Yeah, that's happened here. I saw not one Kerry sticker or yard sign UNTIL after the Republican convention. I have seen support for "W" and yellow ribbons, but it's only been the last few weeks Kerry signs have been showing up. They even staged an informal small parade for the Dems just last week. Tied up traffic since it was a small street. I don't think they gained many supporters in the process. LOL
A sign of desperation, imo. They didn't feel Kerry needed support. They've been shocked to discover it isn't in the bag everybody is ABB.
I have a bumper sticker for Bush on my bumper. Everyday I come out expecting damage to the sticker, possibly my car. I'm not going to submit to intimidation, though. They screw with my car I'll put up a sticker that says product of the 'peace and love' generation.

Has anyone ever done a study to determine how many voters decide whom to vote for on the basis of having seen bumper stickers or yard signs?
I realize that there are other reasons for wanting to display a bumper stick.

From the local paper:
Dems should condemn those who've stolen Bush-Cheney signs
To the editor:
Apparently, some local people are so threatened by the Bush re-election effort that they are expanding throughout Washington County in an organized effort in the dark of night to steal, burn and deface Bush-Cheney campaign signs.
In the past week, dozens of good people in communities around our county have awakened to discover that their Bush-Cheney yard signs had been removed from their yards overnight.
One 4-by-8-foot Bush-Cheney roadside sign was set on fire. Another was spray-painted with grafitti. Four other 4-by-8-foot signs have disappeared from where their property owners placed them.
The pattern of these thefts, arson and vandalism evidences an organized effort to intimidate voters and trample private property rights in a desperate attempt to stifle political freedom and liberty. This is not your run-of-the-mill juvenile delinquency - it takes two grown-ups and a truck to move our 4-by-8-foot signs.
Our local Washington County Republican Party would never tolerate such illegality within our ranks, and I call on my counterpart in the local Democrat Party, Rick Hemphill, to publicly disavow and condemn anyone who might have done this.
[name removed]
In WV, some tolerant soul unloaded a clip into the Republican headquarters after W visited Hedgesville.
Fortunately, it was "after hours".
