A massive spike in voter registrations has placed the Las Vegas area on a pace to lead the nation in the percentage of new voters and has resulted in Democratic gains that could affect the general election in Nevada, a key battleground state.

It looks like the RATS are trying to steal Nevada. If Ashcroft does not investigate this fraud we might as well kiss this one good bye. Nevada went to Bush by about 20,000 votes last election and that was because the rest of Nevada carried him. Las Vegas voted DEM last time around.

After Bush's poor showing in the first debate, I think the Dems smell blood.

In the past eight weeks, about 100,000 new registrations have been filed. That includes more than 13,000 this week alone.

"We've already passed the number of registration forms processed this year than we did in the last three years combined," said Larry Lomax, Clark County's registrar of voters. He added the gain may be the largest on a percentage basis in the nation.

We will end up surpassing the amount of people even qualified to vote.

Same thing happening in Albequerque, Wisconsin, Florida, Michigan...

If it's not close, they can't cheat. It must be REALLY close.

they're trying this all over the country - something has to be done - I say all US attorneys put this on the front burner and issue statements that voter fraud will be investigated and prosecuted on a federal level.

I'm amazed. Did I actually read someone suggest that if the Dems are registering more voters that Ashcroft needs to investigate? So now we're at a point where an opposition party can't try to sign voters up? What has HAPPENED to the Republican party I knew? I would assume we are still a democracy with two parties free to campaign. I saw nothing at all in that story that suggested there was anything except a get out the vote drive. Has our partisan desire overcome the very reason why people fight and die to defend our country -- elections?

The proper response is for Republicans to also work their tails off..and from what I read Karl Rove is doing just that to get a huge turnout on election day.

So by the comments above should the Democrats now say that it's undemocratic for Karl Rove to get Republican votes out?

I have to read this page again to make sure I read it right. I did think this was a democracy; any political science class talks about the importance of getting out the vote and registering voters. There is nothing illegal or wrong about it (unless you're talking about the 1960 vote in Chicago!)

We are getting an influx of liberals from California because of the fact that Cali is becoming a turd world country.

As usual they are screwing up the entire state. Bush may very well lose Nevada this time around.

I doubt a credible investigation of this situation could be accomplished in 30 days under Ashcroft or any other AG.

I signed up for STOMP and they've asked me to go to NV and walk precincts even though I live in CA. Oh well, any excuse to go to Vegas! I am going to go and do what I can to register more republicans and get the ones that are registered out to vote.

There is nothing wrong with signing up LEGIT voters

But how much you want to bet there a LARGE number of false registrations in cities and towns across this nation and aboard

I don't know if we are at the point that Ashcroft needs to get involved ..

But someone better be checking to make sure these registrations are real

All that many are asking for is to have a fair and legit election .. that really isn't too much to ask I think
