This is what I see starting a third world war. How many Eurofreaks have been protesting in Israel? Too many. Okay there was that one American who thankfully was run over by a bulldozer. The UN repeatedly passes resolutions against Israel's right to self defense.
I believe what the Europeans started over centuries they will attempt to repeat (to wipe out the Jews). Israel's efforts to defend itself will result in a resolution that will have French and German troops landing on her shores.
Israel will then not hesitate to use the final mushroom cloud solution against the German people.
Now where will America be in all of this. I truly believe if we would have had that anti-semite Dean as President, or even Hilary, they would opt to stand by and feed Israel to its enemies.

I guarantee you less than 1% of Americans feel that way. It's a ridiculous sentiment
isn't it? American worked very hard and made great sacrifices to end the
holocaust. Americans are rightly proud of their efforts in WWII.
My views may be fringe or not.
But some of the WWII vets I know (of the mainstream Churches of Christ)
hold BOTH opinions: pride at their military sacrifice in blood and sweat to
liberate the camps...AND twinges of regret at not having awoken to what was
happening in Germany in the late 1930s.
And I'd guess it's a "twin view" amongst a fair number of folks I've known
in growing up in Oklahoma and even attending a church-affiliated college.
That's one reason I get riled when I hear liberal Jews jump to the presumption that
everyone in "The Bible Belt" reflexively hate them.

Take it easy Lordy Nel...I wasn't accusing evangelicals of anything wrong, just relating what most churches in the evangelical realm teach their people from sunday school on up! My posting was in response to VOA who was insinuating that most Christians felt guilty about the holicaust and that's Christians supported them.
And yes pretty much all evangelicals support Israel for the reasons you cite as well!(including me!)

Sorry. I guess I have heard the liberal media knock Christian support as though it was only us trying to make prophecy come true.
I actually have never heard church leaders develop an opinion to the Israeli situation. Maybe that's because I'm in Canada. Mostly I have heard Church leaders advance pacifistic nonsense.
Anyways, I am happy that you and most evangelicals are in the right on this one.

I think you need to really need to re-read the New Testament. The Revelation of Jesus clearly shows that Israel plays a central role in the last seven years of this current governing on this world.
The book of Daniel also shows this. God never breaks a promise, He promised that Israel would be the head of ALL nations. Israel has never occupied the land that was given to them.
This and many other promises made to Abraham concerning his offspring have not been fulfilled.
Its in the Book

Well, arabs do hold positions in the Israeli parliament. One could argue that the star of David is meaningless to Hebrews who are secular. At any rate, arabs in Israel have far more rights than Jews, Copts, and other religious sects in all of Islam's domains. In fact I would argue Israeli arabs enjoy more freedom than minorities in the so called democracy of France - where expressing one's religious affiliation (other than communism) is forbidden.

I'm with you there. Ask the Koranimal why the Muslims have been butchering the Hindus, the Catholic Philippinos, the East Timorese, the Black Sudanese, the Russians, the Buddhists etc. Oh yeah.. its going to be
"Its because they support the Jooooos!?!?!" I think not.
Islam is obliged to murder, kill, or convert by the sword.

Someone should move this thread to the Religion category. Such silliness seems almost appropriate there.

*The New Covenant was for everyone. I don't recall there being any grandfather clauses*
Then you obviously haven't been reading much from the New Testament about the matter: "26. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: 'The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; 27. For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.' 28. Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." --Romans 11:26-29
Do strive to get a clue about such things before you post--it tends to lessen the cringing embarrassment factor considerably.

Well, let's not get carried away. I believe the bible speaks of Christ ruling from Jerusalem in the end. It will be Christ at the head of all nations, not necc Israel.
But I do concur that when the nations gather against Israel it will be their downfall. Europe no longer fears God and therefore will have no qualms offending God by attacking the people He chose to reveal Christ through.

I even heard some liberals blame the attacks on the Russian school on Israel. WTF? Liberals, as Savage said, indeed have a mental disease.
BTW, everyone should read "The Sword of the Prophet" by Trifkovic. It is basically the opposite of the politically correct version of Islam we in the West have been fed. There are some on the right who believe we have some common cause with Islam against the humanists. I will take the humanists over the Islamofascists in a heartbeat.

If Israel vanished, the Muslims would have to re-invent it.

But it is an interesting line that some have begun to take against evangelical Christian support....that we are trying to make prophecy come true.

Greatest point of all! Few know about the massacre and torture meted out on the Christians of Lebanon. Or the savage purge the Turks committed against the Armenians. Their violence was whitewashed by the English who needed the Turks as an ally to contain Russia.

Through the Jacobic line....the whole world would be blessed. Thru Esau twelve nations would arise and be blessed. But even scripture states God as saying" Jacob I have loved and Esau I have hated!"

I'm an evangelical and I can't make head or tails of prophecy. It's beyond my ken.
I support Israel because they've been fighting our enemies for the last half a century.
To: quidnunc
IF... Israel were to collapse, there wouldn't be a moment of peace in the western world. Cyprus would fall next. Attacks would the fall on Athens, Sophia in Bulgaria, Belgrade and Rome. Europe would be paralyzed; India would be between a nuclear Pakistan and a nuclear China and SOL.
The rest of the world wouldn't give a damn about Africa.
