I seem to remember the UN couldn't hightail it out of Iraq fast enough.

"The argument is that the UN should have stayed and guarded the explosives."

The UN should have destroyed these explosives 10 years back knowing it was to be used for Nuclear Weapons. Yea, they should have stayed and sunk along the ship they created.

We have lots of capability, but that does not mean we can track every truck movement throughout a country the size of Iraq. Satellites make passes over an area, etc, and thus you get limited hours and locations. To track these trucks to their eventually destination, especially when at that time we were not certain what was in them, would have likely required our "focusing" extra intel capability/satellite imagery capacity on just those trucks, at the expense of many other areas we were watching.

Many people think we can watch everything all the time. Not true. We have great capability, but for limited durations of time and we must prioritize what we are looking at---you can not see everything at once. Sort of like looking outside with a telescope. What you see you see well...but you do not see 100% of what is out there.

B.S.! The U.N. should have destroyed the explosives years before the Iraq war!

He will then change the mantra to we didn't go in soon enough. If Bush would have built a real coalition sooner, we could have stopped this.

I think the duplicity is apparent for all to see and this has been excellent opportunity to put Kerry's foolishness on display.

So true but, I'm not one who likes roller coaster rides all that much and don't know how much more I can stomach between now and next week.

I don't see how this helps us. The argument is that the UN should have stayed and guarded the explosives.

Ha! UN my a$$.

Don't forget the ANTHRAX BOMBS we found there in 2003!

USA Today: 12/3/2003:, Canoe, news
On another issue, UNMOVIC said advanced testing and analysis had indicated that the strain of anthrax found on R400 bombs that Iraq declared that it unilaterally destroyed was the same strain that it had earlier declared to have weaponized.

The people that believe we lost the stuff aren't interested in the truth.

Bingo. We have a winner.

People have to remember that the RATS think like spoiled little children, not adults.

"And where does our great satelite imagery tell us it went???? Are we asleep at the wheel again?"

In the case of Al QaQaa, it's a fixed position, much easier to zoom in on with every pass. It's a lot harder to reaquire a moving vehicle when it takes 90 minutes for the satellite to orbit and be in position again

But wouldn't this conflict with the "unimpeachable" Dan Rather's delusion?

I worry sometimes that the Republicans (for lack of a better term) sit back and "take it" much too often and much too easily.

This story gives me hope.

Consider: these pic's are not new. A reactionary overzealous president may have been tempted to run this type of information out during the, "you lied about the WMD", hype.

Instead, they can be used (can't wait to hear the cover story on the source) as helpful information to "investigate" the timing of the weapons disappearance.

Nothing new here.

CBS and NYT already reported trucks taking things out of Iraq.

"...One report cited by The New York Times says a convoy of tractor-trailers crossed into Syria, but the contents of the trucks was unknown. ..."
