NOT TO WORRY FOLKS.
In our local liberal rag (Idaho statesman) this morning, Caldwell officials stated they have created a "task force" to deal with the gang problem. Yup...all TWO POLICE OFFICERS on the "task force" will put an end to this in no time. Move along.

The article is overblown Caldwell has a lower crime rate then Boise. I live in Caldwell and it's a certain section that is mainly Hispanic and yes many illegals. Caldwell is still largely a quiet farming community and and that's why there is a decent size Hispanic population to work on the farms. Some of the migrants kids try to act out the crap they see in TV. They are wannabe gang bangers. And most Idahoans are armed. Since the crime rate is so low even in Boise a few shootings like this and some escalation in the crime rate and that is big news.

My mother lives in Caldwell, and I've been there to visit twice in the past year. She hasn't mentioned any gang violence to me when we talk, and I think she would have if it were getting out of hand.
When I was growing up there, the most crime we had was a couple of migrant workers stabbing each other at a bar downtown (I think it was the Tico-Tico). Can't remember really clearly the name of the place, this was, um, a long time ago.
