To the "new elite" with their high SAT scores truly believe they have been chosen to change society. Unfortunately, their views are seldom based on true experience and basically they deny the necessity for a civilization to have common, accepted mores, morals and laws that permit some degree of harmony in spite of marked differences in ability and intelligence.
The upshot is we have people such as tonight on "Hard Ball" who try to reason their way into power and influence regardless of what others truly desire. What thely really want are philosopher kings with them either being the king or, at the very least, determing who the king or kings will be. Of course, the kings will all think like the elite.
