Is this allowed under Scottish Law?
I seriously doubt that very much! Spector is a RNC version of Tom Dachele! I'll lay money what he said about judges is 100% true!
He also scuttled Bork. He is a the traitor that invented the magic bullet and discovered that Scottish law was applicable to Clinton's impeachment. Bush deserves all the misery this man delivers up. He is responsible for his reelection, and we could have had a better man.
Please quit talking about his Scottish parts....... I'm trying to eat lunch here.
Keep in mind that Specter is the guy who got Clarence Thomas out of committee give him some credit.
Sure taking a long long time to set the record straight.
Settledown Bungarian - that is not what Rush said at all - he has only stated that the press MAY have created this not that they did.
Spector is a liberal - he will stab us conservatives in the back dont give this guy a chance to prove what he has done in the past. We need him gone!
Ahh...I am not surprised. Heck, we need to ask for complete trascripts before we start crucifying our own I guess.
Yes, the media. Boy, what with Memogate, and the Swifties, and the exit polls if we have learned anything it is:
The Media--- their perfidy knows no bounds.
Just a reminder, sir.
Seems to me Arlen owes Dubya big time for not backing a real Republican back in the primaries.
Alternatively, I'd be surprised if the votes weren't there in the Senate to give Arlen the boot out of the Chairman's job on the Judiciary Committee.
I'm all for giving him the benefit of the doubt, although he's rarely any different in his beliefs than the MSM. Either way, it's good for him to know the heat is on and we're watching him. I still don't want him to chair judiciary.
Spector is a liar. The (liberal) Pittsburgh Post-Gazette endorsed him "Before the Post-Gazette editorial board, he promised that no extremists would be approved for the bench."
I met with his Specterness in the capitol about 18 years ago on an issue involving the IRS. I thought he was an empty suit then. Looks like he still hasn't filled it out.
I am settled. :)
Under Scottish Law that's called "Fire Up the Kilt"
I guess his sporran spontaniously combusted......must have stored an ancient haggis in there
Specter's a waffler. He'll go whichever way offers him the greatest possibility of survival. The Thomas hearings were about a year before Specter was up for re-election. There were rumblings in Pennsylvania of a strong conservative GOP primary challenge against Specter over his vote against Robert Bork a few years earlier. To undercut that threat, he supported Thomas, "proving" he was a team player.
He'll support us or betray us, depending on the circumstances.
The good news is that he'll have to be on good behavior to a degree to keep his chairmanship. If he starts undermining good judicial nominees, he can simply be dumped from the chairmanship.
You may be too young to know this, but Thomas was nominated in 1990, the same year that Specter had to run in a very difficult race for reeelection. If anyone don't think Specter is a self-serving liberal, they are naive and useless to this website.
LMAO!!!!!
They were actually the very same year - 1990. Wasn't that the year of the mom's in tennis shoes, or some silly thing?
