Bush's Ungrounded Vision [“Again, he fails the test of realism.”]
The Washington Post ^ | November 8, 2004 | By Sebastian Mallaby

Posted on 11/08/2004 3:40:14 AM PST by johnny7

The election offered an imperfect choice: A realistic Democrat who lacked vision, or a visionary Republican who lacked realism. Now that the nation has chosen the visionary option, the challenge for the rest of the political establishment -- for congressional leaders, responsible administration officials and news organizations -- will be to avoid getting swept up in the excitement of the victor's bold ideas. We know this leader has the Vision Thing. But what about reality?

“A realistic president would climb off his high horse so that Europeans could descend from theirs.”

Of course... apologize... I should have known. That's all they really want. Wring your hands and jump with 'Old Europe' into the mosh-pit of appeasement.

Our socialist 5th column never concede's defeat...and like rust, it never sleeps.

Better to shoot at some goals and miss than not to have a "plan" and run around in circles and get nothing done.

Do only Lib morons work in mainstream media?

I think Mallaby answers the question.

No wonder why we're kicking their asses.

Stop right there. Kerry is a liar, a traitor, a hypocrite, a shameless panderer, a commie sympathizer, anti-military in vote, anti-defense in vote, anti-sovereignty in vote, anti-life in vote and he looks like a doofus. But he is not realistic and he did have a vision, he thought he could be President.

They said the Arab street would rise up...W said different. They said Afghanistan would be a quagmire...W said different. They said you could never hold elections...W said different.

Who is grounded in reality?

This is the sort of article wherein a journalist has happened on a cute aphorism and then tries to shoehorn his ideas into an unworkable format. Once upon a time editors dumped such articles without a second thought.

A realistic president would climb off his high horse so that Europeans could descend from theirs.

A realistic newspaper would realize just how much damage four years of non-stop Bush-bashing had already done to their beloved liberal power base -- just days ago, mind -- and try something (ANYthing) different, for a change.

Failing that: they might, at least, have just enough simple, garden variety common sense left to STFU.

It's obvious Mr. Mallaby never ran a business. There are infinitely more naysayers than there are doers in the world, especially in Government. Bush knows this. He set the agenda big and broad with hopes to accomplish some of it. If you set it low and only on what you think can be accomplished you are destine to fail a la Carter, Ford, and so many others.

This guy, like all the others, has proven irrelevant.

How 'bout we ask some of the thousands and thousands of terrorists who have been killed in Bush's war against terrorism just how 'real' their death feels?

The MSM has lost power and now it's pist! (CS) They no longer control what we see and hear. Their views do not even matter, and people are more a more beginning to see them for the bumble headed elitist prix they've always been.

Ronald Reagan was a visionary. Jimmy Carter was a realist.
The Wright brothers were visionaries. Werner Von Braun was a visionary. Thomas Edison was a visionary. Great things are done by visionaries that the "realists" say can't be done. I suspect, Bush will accomplish much if not all of his vision, because he believes it can be done.

The wealthy owners of this rag would like you to belive this crap; they hate the middle class and want to destroy it via socialism, making us into a European type society where there is no challenge to their power.
