Is that sharkberry flavor?
Sounds tasty...I haven't tried the GOP sell-out flavors yet.
I am wondering if your optimism is misplaced or not...
another self-proclaimed Catholic for abortion.
Mississippi red-neck, as someone else Norm Libeman [Sp?]said, we have one party with no principles against one party with no guts. It is no contest.
"Does L.A. still have enough conservatives to start a conservative newspaper again? I know it would be an uphill battle...
(When I lived there years ago for a short time it seemed like the numbers were something like Liberals:85%, Conservatives:15%.)"
LA is about 65% liberal, 85% in West Hollywood=all homo. But the minute you get to the suburbs, it is about even.
I live about 45 miles from LA in Ventura County, which is about 60+ percent conservative. Congressman Elton Gallegly, who was just re-elected for the 9th time, is possibly the most conservative man in DC(ADA rating=0)
Problem? Times Mirror Corporation is a multi billion dollar enterprise. If a competitor comes in, they give their newspaper away in order to destroy them.
Margaret Carlson is whistling past the graveyard...
Insofar as FR is committed to the restoration of the Constitution, this would be a HUGE victory. THE number one issue is restoring judicial restraint. Rescinding Roe v. Wade to the states is the right way to go. It would restore self-government. Some states would prohibit it. Others would place severe restrictions on abortion. This time the people would be culpable and not judicial usurpers.
If Bush et al. can't see that, they are not real conservatives at all.
Thanks so much for the current scene of L.A.
As for giving newspapers away, wouldn't there STILL be enough interest in a conservative viewpoint for the suburbanites to shell out $1 a day for a good newspaper?
Seems like it would be worth it just to have another voice there. Sounds like the suburbs could sustain it.
Even if it stayed on a rather smaller scale than LA Times, with really good writers it would be a competitive voice.
Guess I'm a visionary! I think these things would work in other cities too. (I just don't have the finances to get it done... :(
Actually, a funny way to put it.
After a generation of killing their children, they are a minority.
Another generation, they'll be gone.
Good riddance.
Amen to that. From what I have seen of the public comments made by the likes of Frist and Sessions, it looks like Specter will have to give a blood oath to support the nominees, get them to the floor, and perhaps help abolish filibuters on nominees in order to get the chairmanship. If that's the plan, I support it.
