QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the Press conference: Question - Mr. President, first. The Prime Minister is sometimes, perhaps unfairly, characterized in Britain as your "poodle." I was wondering if that's the way you may see your relationship? And perhaps, more seriously, do you feel for the --

PRIME MINISTER BLAIR: Don't answer "yes" to that question. If you do, I would be -- (laughter.) That would be difficult.

Question - Do you feel, for the strong support that Britain has given you over Iraq, that you have to pay back Britain for that support in some way?

PRESIDENT BUSH: "The Prime Minister made the decision he did because he wanted to do his duty to secure the people of Great Britain. That's why he made the decision. Plenty capable of making his own mind. He's a strong, capable man. I admire him a lot. You know why? When he tells you something, he means it. You spend much time with politics, you'll know there's some people around this part of the -- this kind of line of work where they tell you something, they don't mean it. When he says something, he means it. He's a big thinker. He's got a clear vision. And when times get tough, he doesn't wilt. When they -- when the criticism starts to come his way -- I suspect that might be happening on occasion -- he stands what he believes in. That's the kind of person I like to deal with. He is a -- I'm a lucky person, a lucky President, to be holding office at the same time this man holds the Prime Ministership.

These are troubled times. It's a tough world. What this world needs is steady, rock-solid leaders who stand on principle. And that's what the Prime Minister means to me."

What a great thing to say about and for a man who has stood by you in the fight. It really emphasizes Blair's courage and W's loyalty which is one of his greatest attributes.

The press is/are capable of incredibly stupid and immature questions. That was a prime (and insulting) example.

I have missed "A Day in the Life..."! Don't those two look like they enjoy being together? You don't see GW look that relaxed in front of the media very often.

It was absolutely STUPID!!!! Can you imagine the press asking Clinton or Carter a childish question like that, using petty rumor-mill stuff like that for a serious press conference! No wonder GW doesn't trust those idiots!

Maybe Americans are not aware but in the UK the press are always calling Tony Blair GWB's poodle. IMHO I think they have got it wrong though I think it is a much more equal relationship than that

Thanks for posting these pictures today. They are great as usual.

I think this one is my favorite.....

I love it when they look directly into each other's eyes. There is such a firm look of respect and understanding there.

By the way, does anyone know if that long hall has a name?

I wish your countrymen could really see them together. You can see that they are complete equals and enjoy visiting one another. I think a lot of your anti-war citizens in Britain just have a hard time with Blair supporting us in the war on terrorism. They wouldn't feel llke that if Westminster or the houses of Parliment had been hit by a plane!

If UK wants to compare him to a canine, they should call him a Labrador Retriever, due to his loyalty and the tenacious way he stays with Bush. A poodle is the essence of a pampered lap dog which is easily cowed; i.e. John Kerry. However, they do have it wrong, Blair's politics are lacking in the domestic agenda, but his morals are seemingly of high value. IMO, he genuinely believes this is the way to a safer world and a safer Britain. The media would rather fawn over a dead terrorist and make political hey of his deserved death than to be forced to make a moral judgement. Why? Because the majority lack any moral compass to do so.

I think from the accent it was a British reporter which as I said earlier would fit as the British press constantly refer to Blair as Bush's Poodle.

I think it was one of Blair's.

I wish the Pres. would have said something like, "Well, we already have Barney, and the new puppy is coming in December, and I really don't like poodles anyway, so NO, YOU JERK, HE'S NOT MY POODLE!"

or, Tony could have turned to W and panted like a puppy, while W. patted his head and said, "Good boy", but unfortunately the press would have taken it seriously. Jerks.

Great job, Mike. President Bush looked relaxed, confident, wind-at-his-back today. I get the impression that Blair ministers to Bush in encouragement and friendship as much as in the commitment to promoting and planting freedom around the world.

Don't want to open my mouth too often for fear that something stupid will come out of it!! :-) I have fewer brain cells than I did before kids. They are 6 and 4...a boy and a girl.
