The marine in question was shot in the face the day before by a terrorist pretending to be injured and one of his buddies was killed attempting to move a booby trapped body.

I should ad that unlike John Kerry, the marine in question did not put in for a silver star, purple heart and rotation home.

I am not "crying" as you say, and what you have posted is hardly challenging. I was merely trying to ignore you so that the attention was on support of this Marine. But you will not have that.

Your shallow perception leads you to believe the military created the embedded reporter program because it, in and of itself is a good thing. It is not. It is a means to head off what the MSM would normally do: distort with intent to demoralize our troops and effort.

The idea is to have the reporter interacting directly with the troops so that things are on a more personal level between the reporter and the troops, hopefully discouraging hostile reporting as is the standard MO of the anti-American media.

One instance out of ten, as you claim, is still not good enough. If they get another mess like the prison scandal going, it will demoralize our men. If they get our men killed for worry of what some treasonous embed might report during the heat of battle, then it is a BAD program.

What the military intended with the embed program and what these Marxist pukes turn it into are two different things.

I do not have to be a supporter of every decision by the military brass to be a supporter of our men. This case in particular. There are no shibboleths here.

The media is anti-american and Marxist. There is no "good" application of their distortions, only less bad ones.

I have assserted nothing that is false, and to say so is patently untrue.

Here I sit at work, trying to work, and I am completely disturbed by this. I don't think we should have ANY reporters with our men and women...they have done nothing but interfere and discredit us...if they were to show a beheading on the news, it would undoubtedly have a huge impact on the American population...most Americans have no idea the torture and vile practices of our enemies...give me a bullet in the head over severed limbs any day...God Bless America and Godspeed to our Troops!

Your comprehension appears to only exceed your accuracy. I don't advocate anything. I certainly don't "placate" terrorists.

This Marine will be judged by his fellow Marines after a thorough investigation. That is the way it should be. Frankly, fellow Marines, with all the facts, will be in a far better position than you or me to Judge what happened here.

My point is -- we don't shoot wounded, unarmed, nonthreatening enemies. That's what separates us from them. If it turns out that the Marine was justified by some action about which we do not yet know -- that will be great.

One can certainly argue from his words that he perceived some threat.

I have not been in combat -- and it is not for me to judge his decision making. But I don't need to be in combat to say that we don't shoot people without a reason.

Of this I am sure -- an investigation is warranted. I hope it comes out well.

In the meantime -- as my original post indicated, this clip is being played around the world -- further undermining our troops, our reputation, and our moral standing. None of that is good.

In the end, if the facts justify the shooting, then screw what everyone thinks. But I am damn sure we here at Freerepublic can't make that call yet.
