Makes sense to me! The more beer I drink, the smarter I think I am, until I reach a point where I'm yelling at the whole bar, expounding on my ideas about the theory of relativity, nuclear physics, and why the Chiefs really suck this year. LOL. You know I do the same thing! The only diff is that I find myself explaining why the Bills suck so much this year. lol

For decades now, positive effects (cardio-vascular, reduced instances of some cancers, even mental acuity) of
moderate drinking have been reported. The key word, alas, is "moderate," and even worse, some studies define "moderate" in terms that I would define as "minuscule."
Some years ago (I could probably tell you exactly how many years ago, but, well, I drink), I heard a radio news report stating that moderate consumption of alcohol was linked to a lower risk of strokes. The announcer said "...consumption of three or four alcoholic drinks..." I was thinking "All right! Most excellent news!" until he continued the sentence "...per week..."
I was somewhat bummed.

How many beers equal half a bottle of wine?

My brother always said that drinking was a sort of "Survival of the Fittest" for brain cells.
Kill off the weak brain cells, and you get smarter! Maybe he was right ...

A 12 ounce bottle of beer has the alcohol equivalent of a 5 ounce glass of wine.

Hmm, maybe that is where my brother got his idea.

That depends on the beer. Some Belgian ales have 3 times the alcohol content of a Bud or Miller.

When Ohio was called by Fox, I opened up a bottle of (Spanish) champagne and knocked it back with some smoked salmon and crusty French bread.
I took the next day off.

A drug is a drug, is a drug, whether you shoot it, snort, drink it or drop it on your eye. The "sharpest" people I know are not drug users.
You must move in very different circles to myself. All of the 'sharpest' people I know drink more than what most would consider to be moderate.
The whole 'drug is a drug is a drug' thing is simply a recipe for puritanism.

I think I had some Coors or maybe some Aussie Shiraz.
Are there any good Red State wines? I'm sick of supporting the lefties in my state.

Me too...pity that they don't seem to take that wisdom with them when they sober up!!!

The wines of California and Washington come from the non-blue sections of the state. You can drink them with a clear conscience.

WA might be an option if I didn't know (and dislike) some of the people who work at one of the big vineyards there, but CA is definitely out.
