I believe I said "...the suggestive comments got to be over the top in some cases", and because of that "eventually we were collectively admonished to cool it with the fawning." I remember quite well that perhaps half of the posts in the beginning included statements citing the Presidents good looks, and many of them still are. Just today even, the comments continue though in greatly reduced in number. Not "over the top" comments like in 91 and 122. Comments, such as:

I considered the reply in 91 and 122 both to be "over the top" and was trying to graciously quiet the impact with acknowledging the President is truly good looking. Surely there's no double standard, is there?

As have I. I was posting under a different ID then but I was here as well. I had to start a new ID because of private mail I was receiving on a different site. It was deemed pragmatic to discontinue use of the former ID used on multiple sites. Seems several of us "charter" members have different takes on pinning down THE reason for the Dose coming into the world of Freep, when it would perhaps be more accurate to say there were several great reasons for the advent of the Dose. I think it wise to defer to the Queen Mother of the Dose, Rintense.
I'm so sorry I have ruffled some feathers. I had no idea that would happen by an innocent comment that made the whole of the Dose apparently appear to have somehow been diminished. I love the Dose. For all it's many attributes. God has blessed us with a President and First Lady who are the embodiment of grace. I intend to keep on enjoying the Dose, dedicated to celebrating every aspect of what it is. If I make stupid comments sometimes, I will own them, if the accuracy police keep me on my toes. (In jest!)

I agree, but there have been many more than a couple that fit the "unacceptable" moniker over the course of the Dose. And the Dose is still here. Thriving. It's not a perfect world.
There is no 'different take' between what rintense said and what I said. She just added to it.....or perhaps got it boiled down a bit (after all SHE is the one who got it started). The Dose began as a celebration, and was, as she has said many times before, to let us in on what the President was doing, since the media would never do it.
I agree completely with your taking said poster to task. I did it myself. I just disagree that 'perhaps half' the original posts were of the 'hubba hubba' nature, which I believe gave the wrong impression, and that the thread started because of the President's looks, which was inaccurate.
I'm not upset in the slightest........only clarifying.
Bottom line for me........the President is admirable, strong, courageous, moral, witty, intelligent, savvy, honorable, loving, faithful and yes.......mighty good to look at (as is his adoring, and adored wife). "Hubba hubbas" are always acceptable, "I want hims" are not.

I take exception to being ganged up on. I have made every attempt I can think of to set it all aright but it all seems to fall on deaf ears. No reason to keep saying the same thing over and over. Seems like being right is more important than accepting my apology, weak though you obviously think it is. Guess I'm not as good at making myself understood as you. I do understand you completely. Rest assured. On second thought, I don't even know why I'm apologizing. I did nothing wrong.
I see no reason for taking this to Freepmail. I have as much right to express my opinions in public as anyone else. Even if they are so wrong. Freedom of speech even covers idiots like me. I agree, this is much ado but it is not about nothing. Even idiots are something. Say what you will. I'm done with this silliness. Guess we'll just HAVE to agree to disagree.
