And a bump to bring the Ball's attention to Brian Wilson, FReeper-supporting' Reasonable Radio Guy. Brian! C'mon and party with us!

So glad he enjoyed it. Mrs. DFU gets to go on a quilt or crochet cruise in February, so I get to go to this. We were on vacation in New York and DC at the beginning of October. This one is a quick turn around trip for me.

Oh, he just thought it was hilarious, esp. the part where Kerry bounced the first pitch from in front of the mound. Heck, the distance between the bases in Little League are 60 feet - the same (minus 6 inches) as a major league mound to home plate.

He pronounced it (and I quote) "just pathetic."

I totally agreed.

So glad you get to go cross-country - sounds like you and the Mrs. have a great agreement!

"Mrs. DFU gets to go on a quilt or crochet cruise in February"

Why am I finding this so funny.

Why does my mind picture your wife with the Amish folk just down the road from us in Lancaster, PA on a cruise ship? They have horse and buggy parking now?

Oh my, just laughing so hard.

Well, since our little girl got married 5 years ago, she had to have something to do. So, she took up quilting and is very, very good at it. Surprisingly, we don't have a big Amish population in Southern California.

Yep, she quilts in one room and I FReep in another. We occasionally yell to each other. :)

Looks like there'll be enough teens there so the kids won't be bored having to hang out with the grown-ups.

May I ask what the teens will be wearing? How are you dressing them, or rather, how are they dressing themselves? Are we talking the prom look, nice cocktail type dress or church dress? We were looking in Dillard's last night and my daughter tried on some formals, but we didn't buy anything. I don't want her to be overdressed. But with such a happy, special occasion, I think overdressing is in order. LOL

Thoughts? Opinions?

I'm looking forward to my daughter meeting other conservative teens. I bet they all leave with each other's IM names. I already have trouble with her chatting on IM too much. *sigh*

The girls will not be strapless, or otherwise inappropriately dressed for a mixed age crowd. We'll go with the cut on the red dress: simple, modest, elegant.

Where are those dresses from? The red one is almost the exact same dress my daughter tried on, except it was hot pink.

Modesty all the way in our family. For some odd reason, my daughter was born modest. I don't remember having to train her...it was just a natural thing for her, praise God. She can't stand for her belly button to show or shorts to be too short. LOL I remember giving my mother fits over my clothes and my sisters were worse than me, but my daughter is naturally modest. God has blessed me.

OK, well thanks for answering my question. Now I know what to look for.

Dammit I was gonna wear that! ;)

Nah, but I do have a great ensemble planned if Ms. Buzzcut doesn't veto it! ;)

I don't think this refers to thongs on your feet.

My two young ladies (one mine, one her best friend) will be wearing gowns. They are in a JROTC program at their high school which has a traditional Regimental Ball annually, at which all the young ladies are expected to dress in formal evening attire, so they have already have gowns. But they are still watching for good deals on new ones, just in case.

:-)

Depending on where you live in FL, you may want to check out Loehmann's for fantastic deals on some beautiful dresses and gowns. Also, last summer daughter and her friend were in a Dillards in FL and they each got beautiful gowns for less than $40...

One other idea, which some snooty people may turn their noses up at - thrift stores often have great deals on like-new formal gowns; some folks won't wear the same thing twice. I bought one once that was in perfect condition and I altered it to fit daughter for her Halloween "Cinderella" costume.
