Arguably the 3 greatest living character actors all living together is kinda cool.
Those days are over in NYC.
The Gene Hackman story I like is the one where several years out of the Marines(?) he was working at the Howard Johnson's on Broadway, waiting tables and seating people. His commanding officer came in and said, "I knew you'd never amount to anything."
The other story is a guy I knew from the old days was an extremely talented actor. Guy spent 15 years going from acting class to audition to voice class to more auditions to off-off broadway showcases...he got a few commercials, a couple of good reviews, then vanished. I ran into him like ten years later in Vegas. He was there for a convention. He'd been selling a certain brand of home appliances for the last decade. Completely gave up acting after getting married and having a kid. The guy had aged about 20 years in a decade.
"We are actually, all of us, conservative, not liberal, whatever We are reflections of that society. And we're a product of it."
Translation: "We'll say anything to get you red state rubes into the theaters. Afterall, we need your money more than you ever will to support our insane Hollyweird lifestyle, but then, you wouldn't understand such a sophisticated nuanced way of seeing things, so just shut up and buy the damned ticket."
