That Cuban Americans are all republicans is not as true as it used to be. The last time I saw the statistics, their vote was typically breaking about 50/50.
CZJ is an R. Documented here somewhere on FR.
No, there aren't any good intelligent actors. Let's not sugar coat it. Really. They're pretty dumb as individuals. What they have -- either by training or gift is a mechanism that allows them to wipe away who they are. Try that some time and you'll see have difficult it is. Read a piece of Shakespeare out loud -- Richard III, say-- and forget who you are -- all self-awareness. Maybe self-awareness is tied to intelligence, I don't know.
Brando Trivia Bonus: during Brando's run of Street Car on Broadway, the critics were enraptured by his performance. Particularly, they loved the way he would cast his eyes upward when delivering some of his lines. A brilliant acting choice? No. He couldn't remember all of his lines, so the director had cue cards up on the ceiling.
Buzz is bad on this movie. No preview screenings yet.
Well you can't make a blanket statement. David Duchovny of the X Files was a Doctoral candidate in English Literature before he left to be an actor. Was Laurence Olivier stupid? Jack Lemmon struck me as an intelligent man. George C Scott...so forth
Sure, George, right. Now go play with your million dollar toys.
David Duchovny isn't what you would call a real actor. He's from that William Shatner school of dramatics. And, yeah, Olivier from all accounts wasn't that bright. Neither was Jack Lemmon. They could "act" bright, but that's different. And not to say they weren't nice guys. It has something to do with the "craft," it doesn't allow for depth of intellect. Hitchcock knew this and used it to his advantage.
I have to run out to work. Truthfully, I like discussions on acting etc. If you want to continue it later, let me know via email. Cheers!
The conventional wisdom suggests that to be a great actor you have to understand human nature, psychology and so forth. Which suggests intelligence. I suppose all around intelligence isn't rarely granted to people who have an exteme gift in one particular field. Beethoven's letters show his intellect to have been pretty ordinary to say the least.
P.S. -my sister lives in L.A. and reports that she sees Andy Garcia with his wife and brood of children at mass every Sunday.

Wrong....Bush won 82% of the Cuban vote in 2000....he got.....Yep....82% in 2004....
That is Florida Statistics.....if you add in the New Jersey Cubans.....the vote is 72% Republican.....
Good, now I can see his movies in peace.
Michael Douglas is a long time supporter of the UN, promoting a UN initiative on gun control worldwide. He has been quoted as saying "Our focus in this country is on gun control."
He has also contributed heavily to the Bradley and Gore campaigns.
It also helps if you're psychotic.
When you are surrounded by folks who tell you what you want to hear 24/7 and are good time friends, in a career choice where those with the most talent are not guaranteed any sort of success... of course your world view is going to be skewed. Entertainment is one of the few areas where someone with mega talent can be stuck waitressing their entire life, but someone without an ounce of talent can become a household name. Its a world completely removed from reality.
You get paid ungodly amounts of money for work that is hardly worth the cash, so they wind up feeling guilty over it as well and placate this by various "social" activities... unfortunatley they start to think that everyone should feel guilty as well.
Andy Garcia is a Republican. He is one of the good guys. The rest are all liberal, USA traitor, Democrat vermin!!! As for the movie "Ocean's Twelve", I suspect there will be no need to boycott it. I think that it, like "Alexander" is going nowhere. The movie I want see destroyed is "Meeting the Fockers" starring Robert DeNiro (Amazing that the great DeNiro has sunk so low!) and Barbra Streisand.
Celebrity.intelligence = nil
