Dutch Muslims want to block critical film December 3, 2004

The Hague - A small group of Muslims in the Netherlands are preparing a lawsuit to block a sequel to Submission, the movie scripted by a right-wing lawmaker and directed by a slain Dutch filmmaker.

Member of parliament Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been in hiding since filmmaker Theo Van Gogh was murdered on November 2 by an Islamic radical. A letter pinned to his chest with a knife threatened Hirsi Ali and vowed jihad, or holy war, against the "infidel enemies of Islam".

Hirsi Ali, a member of the Liberal party known by its Dutch acronym VVD, announced plans for a follow-up film on Monday. She has vowed to continue fighting for the emancipation of Muslim women.

Submission criticised how women are treated under Islam, and was considered insulting by many Dutch Muslims. It showed virtually naked Muslim women in headscarves with verses from the Qur'an written on their bodies. They told stories of abuse and rape by relatives.

Attorney Robert Moszkowicz said his clients had filed a suit "against Hirsi Ali in response to her plans to make a second film, called Submission 2.

"The suit will also seek to prevent Hirsi Ali from making offensive remarks or blasphemous statements against Islam", it said. It accused Hirsi Ali of labelling Islam dangerous "without differentiating Islam from radical Islam".

The killing of Van Gogh, known for his provocative columns and movies, triggered debate about the limits of free speech in the liberal Netherlands. Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner even called for the revival of a 1930s law condemning blasphemy and hurtful language. - Sapa-AP

He closed his Senate offices in DC because "security concerns."

Yes, I remember now. That was a pretty good stunt. Him being a Democrat, just before the election. In his case, it was delusional. We don't need to kill our opponents, we simply defeat them at the polls once our ideas hit the street.

There are certainly a lot of Democrats that, if assinated, I wouldn't exactly spend my life savings trying to attend their funeral. The difference is that our party will never accept assination as a part of political discourse, but to the Muslims in Europe, an assination is something to celebrate. As for the Dems here, I'm not sure. I just remember the night that Reagan was shot I was living in a dormatory at the University of Michigan, and my neighbor threw a party to celebrate.

Hiya newbie and welcome as a new FReeper. It gladdens my heart whenever I see that the lights have turned on for a recovering lib. There are quite a few here that share your experience, although most of us were born way over here on the Right. (^;

You are correct that the right are the among the strongest supporters of Israel. Just why the Jewish voters, in general, can't see that totally baffles me. Always has and always will.

"Change is difficult for Jews..."

True - it's just frustrating.

The movie is available via BitTorrent. For those unfamiliar, BitTorrent is a downloading/file sharing format that lets you download movies (and more) from others.

There are tracker sites like:
http://www.suprnova.org/
Search for "Submission"

You'll need to install torrent software such as torrentstorm...

But worth the trouble..

I'm downloading the movie now..

Many thanks for your support and MissAmerica's too. And for the warm welcome. Free Republic has been such a tonic for the treatment of chronic liberalism and I bask here in the principles of God and Country. And I agree with BobL., it IS frustrating, no more so than for conservative Jews themselves. But know that we are grateful for the wonderful support from conservative Christians/gentiles. When the islamicfascists come for us, its good to know you've got our backs. But thanks be to God and the Marines, it won't happen here!

"It accused Hirsi Ali of labelling Islam dangerous "without differentiating Islam from radical Islam"."

The most congitively dissonant statement I've heard all week. How does non-radical Islam defend itself against being called radical? By killing those who say they are dangerous? Yeah, that makes sense.

Dutch Muslims want to block critical film

I love the journalistic wiggle-words...
Since when is "truthful" translated as "critical"?
Hey, the Muslims must have studied the tactics of the "Sinclair Broadcasting
Suppression Team" of The Kerry Campaign.

Actually, Islamics are just as practiced at supression of the ugly truth
about their activities as Democrats are.
They got terrorism expert Stephen Emerson off of NPR with a phone campaign (IIRC)
and even mostly muzzled radio-icon Paul Harvey.

With Dubya returned, we gotta' tell these Islamic activists that they can talk,
talk, talk all they want...
AND they CAN'T shut up people who tell the truth about them.

That's why we aren't going to be the North American colony of Eurabia.
Like Canada.

Translation:
"Please stop showing a film that tells the truth about how women are too often
treated in true Islamic fashion.
If you Dutch keep showing that film, we'll have to behead, shoot and
savagely stab some more of you in the streets. And it will be all your fault."

The Monty Python ditty of "Brave Sir Robin Ran Away" was played on The Hugh Hewitt Show
yesterday in honor of Sen. Mark Dayton.
(Good thing this Chicken Senator isn't being allowed to have his panic attacks while
roaming around Iraq).

The lyrics follow, with Brave Sir Robin's (Sen. Dayton) defense of his honor in quotes:

Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Robin.

His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils raped
And his bottom burnt off
And his pen--

"That's... that's enough music for now lads, there's dirty work afoot."

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
("No!")
Bravely ran away away.
("I didn't!")
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
("I never!")
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
("You're lying!")
Swiftly taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!

The thing to keep in mind here is that the entire basis of Islam is the subjugation of women. That is how they get their men. The rest of it is a smokescreen. Seriously, why would any man choose to be part of a 'religion' that requires you to stick you butt up in the air 5 times a day, grow a beard the length of your car, and tell you how to take a dump. Sounds pretty lousy. Now add to the mix that you get a sex slave you can beat up any time you want, and the 'religion' starts looking much better.

Now Theo comes out with his film, exposing this sham. No wonder he was killed. If you take away the dominance of women, the whole scheme collaspes. Theo had to be killed, and his film squashed - because it was showing all of Europe what kind of monsters they had in their midst.

I do believe you are on to something there.
