FR POST OFFICE (post Christmas cards, greetings, messages to your fellow FReepers here)
12/5/04

Posted on 12/05/2004 7:58:58 AM PST by Liz

All of our longings, our hopes and dreams, are represented by the birth of the innocent babe in the manger, the Christ Child.

The Spirit of Christmas, and our spiritual renewal, was never more powerful than it is today, Christmas season 2004.

Christans are more united than ever, and that's a good thing, for Christians, and for the future of America.

Let's pass around the good cheer, and tap our keyboards as one, wishing one and all a very merry and sacred Christmas, and a prosperous and healthy New Year.

This goes out to all the good folks I know who stand watch over the threads, as one of the Viking Kittens, or the Knights of the RKBA. Your Sergeant-at-Arms sends greetings.

This might come as week-old news to you, but not everyone's heard it, so bear with me:

I'm headed for The War as of next month. My turn has come at last.

I fully intend to be part of your online lives for some time to come, with daily news of the madcap goings-on of the National Guard, both here and in The Sandbox. To say nothing of our ceaseless hunting of those who mean us wrong in our little virtual home.

As the New Year approaches, it means a time of renewal. Fresh starts, and cutting loose the past. We'll all deal with things as they come - you and I.

I'd like to give each of you, a line of dialogue from an old favorite episode of M*A*S*H*, that I've used every year since I first heard it:

"So, here's to the New Year: may it be a damn sight better than the last one was, and may we all be home, this time next year."

Enjoy Well The Days!

SARGE

Hi Star!

:::HUGS::::

I think most decent Jewish people would take the kind, warm thought for what it is, and hope that you have a "Merry Christmas" as well.

i am not a Christian, nor a Jew, but that is how I take your greeting, as a kind, warm thought from a friend!

And Merry Christmas again!

LOL!

We truly, truly are grateful for your upcoming bravery in battle and for protecting our freedom. Be safe. Thank you for all the great posts.

Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday...

Sheesh! I believe the correct term is "day in which we are allowed to be festive." After all, "holiday" could be mistaken for "holy day," could it not? I am certain that your aim is not to offend anyone, correct?

LOL! Merry, merry Christmas!

I'm still IN it! They're keeping me on Recruiter orders right up until we mobilize.

Double benefit is, I can do the recruiter stuff, and I'm available full-time to help the readiness guys with the alerts and things that come up. In me, the company has an extra full-timer!

To the crazy Freeper folk I have had the great pleasure of interacting with over the past year, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. You have made me laugh so my wife thinks I'm crazy, You have touched my soul when the times were rough, You have forced me giggle at myself in the middle of the day and you have prayed with me whenever I needed to call God collect...:)

To Old Sarge, God Speed and we'll be praying for you on your journey. Keep an eye out for the young'un on that journey with you. (My Son will be one of those)

To the folks I look forward to meeting at the Inaugural Ball, Safe Journey's to you and yours.

To Jim Robinson, Merry Christmas and Thanks for the Free Republic, without you I would not have met these "band of misfits"

Above All else I wish you all peace and happiness in the Greatest Country in the World, from the Greatest (:)) State in the Union.

Politically Correct Holiday Party

Subject: The Office Party
FROM: Pat Lewis, Human Resources Director
TO: Everyone
RE: Christmas Party
DATE: December 1
I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23, starting at noon in the banquet room at Luigi's Open Pit Barbecue. No-host bar, but plenty of eggnog! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...feel free to sing along. And don't Be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus!

FROM: Pat Lewis, Human Resources Director
DATE: December 2
RE: Christmas Party
In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Hanukkah is an important holiday which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to employees who are celebrating Kwanzaa at this time. Happy now?

FROM: Pat Lewis, Human Resources Director
DATE: December 3
RE: Holiday Party
Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table ... you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads "AA Only" you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody?

FROM: Pat Lewis, Human Resources Director
DATE: December 7
RE: Holiday Party
What a diverse company we are! I had no idea that December 2 begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating, drinking and sex during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps Luigi's can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party - the days are so short this time of year - or else package everything for take-home in little foil swans. Will that work? Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Overeaters Anonymous to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Did I miss anything?

FROM: Pat Lewis, Human Resources Director
DATE: December 8
RE: Holiday Party
So December 22 marks the Winter Solstice...what do you expect me to do, a tap-dance on your heads? Fire regulations at Luigi's prohibit the burning of sage by our "earth-based Goddess-worshipping" employees, but we'll try to accommodate your shamanic drumming circle during the band's breaks. Okay???

FROM: Pat Lewis, Human Resources Director
Date: December 9
RE: Holiday Party
People, people, nothing sinister was intended by having our CEO dress up like Santa Claus! Even if the anagram of "Santa" does happen to be "Satan," there is no evil connotation to our own "little man in a red suit." It's a tradition, folks, like sugar shock at Halloween or family feuds over the Thanksgiving turkey or broken hearts on Valentine's Day. Could we lighten up?

FROM: Pat Lewis, Human Resources Director
DATE: December 10
RE: Holiday Party
Vegetarians!?!?!? I've had it with you people!!! We're going to keep this party at Luigi's Open Pit Barbecue whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your freaking salad bar, including hydroponic tomatoes. But you know, they have feelings too. Tomatoes scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right now!

FROM: Teri Bishops, Acting Human Resources Director
DATE: December 14
RE: Pat Lewis and Holiday Party
I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Pat Lewis a speedy recovery from her stress-related illness and I'll continue to forward Your cards to her at the sanatorium. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd off with full pay. We hope that this change does not offend anyone.
